I have a perfect time playing chords (self taught rhythm guitarist for 1 year, literally 90% of the songs I play are entirely chords and strum patterns). When I go to guitar center to look around for guitars with some better tone, I can’t find a single guitar where the tone with chords doesn’t sound like ass.

true they aren't too small to fret, but they're just small enough that I have to stretch to get them (especially those barred c and f chords) and it takes a second or so to swap between while I'm arranging my fingers.
@davecarsley87735 жыл бұрын
The Guitar Sage is telling you the truth my friend. Your hands are NOT too small. Yes, you have to really stretch to barr all the way to that low E string, and it's awkward at first, and uncomfortable, and you feel like you'll never get it.... *YOU WILL GET IT!*

have the intonation checked. If it’s not that, you might be pressing too hard on the strings which is common when folks go back-and-forth from acoustic to electric and don’t pay the electric more lightly. 👍

Hey Eric, first I would like to thank you for your lessons, they've helped me a lot with my guitar playing and all your clever remarks and tricks are worth gold. Now I need to ask you a question- I found that my power chords and octaves (both with distortion on) sound like, as you would frase it, poo-poo (not clean at all, kind of muddy and very noisy). I was wondering, is that only because I do something wrong with my fingers, because I use to much distortion or just because my strings buzz like crazy (perhaps i should have my guitar set by a professional). Thanks again for all your hard work! Greetings from Poland

@tommulford71386 жыл бұрын
Exactly! I think most, if not all beginners have dealt with this issue. I certainly did (i'm still pretty new in many ways as i've only been playing on and off for 2 years). My chords never used to ring out well at all because my fingers were too flat, thus not creating enough space between my fingers and the strings; or should i say, they sounded like poo-poo. Every guitar instructor online said to straighten the fingers and bend the knuckles. Now its second nature and my chords sound good. So anyone who is struggling with poo-poo sounding chords, watch this vid.
