This is one of big reasons I fish in a kayak. Stealth is key for chasing the biggest smartest fish & something I'm always very aware of.

The fish in my pond won't touch any lure if you step on our dock, because it feels the vibrations, but if you fish from the shore.... You're golden lol. Yes, stealth is very important.

Moving baits catch bigger fish as well.Yes you can catch big fish on soft plastics and jigs but what I have found out is if you throw a lot of moving baits your gonna be more prone to hook up with bigger fish.

Also being intentional about your casts helps. Not chucking fly balls with a big splash. Sliding those low casts with minimal splash is one more thing by you can do

I have seen this actually happen. I live near Lake Murray in SC and often fish in the Dreher Island area( where all the major tournaments launch from). One morning I put my kayak in at the Marina on Dreher Island along with about half a dozen bass boat just before sunrise. The bass boats took off towards the bridge that is the access to the island. Three of the boats stopped at the bridge and spent about 5 minutes trolling around and form my view they were not catching anything. It took me about another 5 minutes or so to paddle over to the same location and after several minutes of just sitting still in the water I had fish jumping all around me. I kept and eye on where the 3 bass boats went and they conjugated near a fish attracter that is provided by the SC Department of Natural Resource, its a good spot that consist of old Christmas trees placed there by DNR. I have caught many fish there over the years, but the bass boats were not having any luck and moved on. I continued to fish along the bank as I made my way to the spot they vacated. I reached the spot and just sat there for a minute or so and once again the fish were jumping all around me. I started fishing that area and caught a 5.3 lbs 21 inch large mouth bass. And this got me thinking....the bass boats, speed up to an area, throttle back creating a large wake and immediately drop the trolling motor.....how does the effect the fish???? I paddle over quietly about 10 minutes later after all the boats have gone, and have fish everywhere and catch my personal best Largemouth. I also like to add, I fish with NO electronics. I pay attention to the wind, weather, water temp and cover or known underwater structures. So yes, I believe stealth is a big part of why I have success fishing from a kayak.

I have caught more and bigger bass since I started KAYAK fishing.. The low profile and the quiet paddling has really payed off ...

I caught my PB largemouth on a small 14 acre lake she was 4.6 lbs and I was gar fishing with chicken liver.🤣 just like you said stealth is a big part because I was fishing off a 15 foot wall and she came out of some lilys not far from where I was fishing and absolutely smoked the liver .I never climbed down a wall so fast🤣

Great video! On a local small lake with clear water and a healthy bass population, I fish from a rowboat, no motor or electronics. I get almost no bites from decent size fish near the boat. Long casts are the key for me for big bass there. Your video made me think about this pattern.

I’ve noticed this recently even on pressured banks on our local cosway I find going at night I’ve been catching better quality and higher quantity of fish more often, things are a lot more stealthy at night. Everything is quiet and just nothing going on but you can hear them feeding on baitfish and craws shallow. Boy oh boy is it fun.

Tyler this video is right on, I just spent the day punching and all I could think about was how bad my trolling motor was spooking them. It’s difficult to drift as you are at the mercy of the wind and current but I’m sure it will pay off

I fish a lot like Bobby Lane and those techniques work. I make long casts with no trolling motor or electronics on. I catch a lot of 5lb+ bass. My pb is 8 lb 4 oz but I’ve caught a ton of 7+ lb bass.

Excellent Tips. Many electronics can be “disabled” by simply pressing the Power button once and selecting “disable Sonar”. Just don’t forget to “enable” before the end of the day or you may forget you disabled your sonar on your next outing. OK! Only happened once to me. I have a Honey Hole in a Channel in the Florida Keys where the baitfish will line tight to the side walls of the hole and the Barracuda and Tarpon will circle in the Hole. The baitfish will always stay 30’ from me. Using LiveScope, I have watched them move to 30’ away as I move closer to them. But some Barracuda will also setup under fishing boats to eat any released fish no matter what electronic signals are going out. Be well. Opposite of Noise=Bad: My Friend has a spring fed pond stocked with Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass. When anyone comes to the water’s edge in the late evening, the Bass and Bluegill will move in as it is often Hot Dog feeding time! He can actually hand feed one of the Alpha Smallmouth Bass!

When I was very young fishing with my grandfather, he used to say to me, “Shhhhhh! Be quiet! You’ll scare the fish!” I thought it was because I was always running my mouth talking non stop, but now I’m thinking he was actually onto something.

I don't think it's so much sound out of the water, I think it's more of the vibration from the sound of the motors and stuff in the water. I don't think I've ever seen a fish with ears but they do sense vibrations in the water lol

I don’t think this was a huge issue 20 years ago but with the pressure lakes are getting now I find that I can catch more and bigger fish out of my kayak. Fishing by yourself in a kayak also allows you to parallel the bank with your casts without screwing over the guy in the back.

Good information! Something I can't figure out and would be good information is where are the quality bass usually hiding? My cousin and I do local tournaments and we also catch quantity instead of quality. I would rather catch a couple bigs instead of a bunch.

Bro I just caught my PB smallmouth 6lbs even and I was right on top of it over a big healthy overhanging tree on a riverbank, drops off into about 8-9ft the whole tree, dead calm day, 630pm in upstate ny damiki rig baby z too 1st gen jaw dropper then on way in I got a 4 14 burning it in on a retrieve at the kayak. But I hadn’t paddle for 20 mins , just drifting making pitches. Sick video

I think about if you're sitting outside at a restaurant eating you didn't even notice the noise of the traffic. Until a rice burner or some loud diesel truck comes zooming by. With braids now there's no reason not to make super long casts.

I just realized something.. where I fish there is a floating dock. And to the left some pilings to the right just submerged grass. We always go on the dock and fish the pilings or cast straight off the dock to deeper water. And we catch. Fish biggest one that style is probably 4 Ana half. But this made me realize the two biggest bass I’ve ever caught one 7 and one 6 lbs were when I didn’t walk on the floating dock. And fished the pilings from shore. Or the submerged grass to the right of the dock. I wonder if it was coincidence or if the bigger fish left the area when we walked on the floating dock.

I try to fish for that one big bite when I pull up on a good fish area. I turn the boat around& pull away back from a good spot- drift into a spot- yeah, quiet, far casts, hittin the spot before the bass knows youre there. That is huge.

Do something different! BB on a bright sunny day, you think they see that very often? Use your creativity. That’s what makes bass fishing special. You will find little key “secrets” after fishing a certain body of water for a period of time Unless you’re spotlighting bass, quit comparing your fishing to tournament anglers. I was in your same shoes, I KNEW no other anglers were cranking the underwater creek mouth ledge with deep divers. I hadn’t either but guess what I quickly learned, the big fish I swore never existed swallowed a DD’er. Hence my profile pic. Here in Ohio that is a BIG fish.
