I’ve gone to the casino with $100 and ran it up on two occasions, most recently to a high of $6,800- in about a month, playing 1-3. A lot of game selection and personal discipline. My FIRST buy in was only 33bb’s, and I got it in on a low-card flop with the nut flush draw. I bricked the flush but it went runner runner for a straight chop and I said “wow, I ONLY have $100 in cash to play- that was the LUCKIEST chop I’ve EVER had!”

Why is quarter pot bad with AQc there? He can start folding 8s through jacks (even qq that didnt 4 bet pre) to half pot plus. You also lose the minimum vs Ak. I do see merit in targetting worse Ax and potential flush draws tho...perhaps you make more long term targetting those ax and fd portions of the range vs pps...idk, Id like to hear more thoughts
@BluffaloSam11 ай бұрын
It's not a great board for us. Our betting freq is low, so our bet sizes go up.
@Nick-th9qy11 ай бұрын
@@BluffaloSam You have plenty of Ax, I wouldnt say its a great board, not a bad one tho
@BluffaloSam11 ай бұрын
@Nick-th9qy This is common thinking that A high boards = auto good for PF aggressor. However they're actually surprisingly high frequency checks, especially OOP. When the 2 cards are middling between 6 and 9, it makes it much worse for preflop aggressor, as most of our Ax is wheel Aces, and Broadway Aces. While IP is going to be calling all his A6-A9s as well, IP is going to have more sets than us. In terms of Ax boards, these are the worst for us.

Great session Sam! Congrats on the big win! Love the bluff with the 57h, like you said it puts the vast majority of his range in such a rough spot. What beautiful runouts on those A2, 1010 and 88 hands, well played on them all, out of curiosity did the opponent reveal their hand in either of the first 2 hands? Also completely agree about not loving straddles when it makes stacks relatively shallow. It’s so frustrating when someone at 2/5 insists on straddles when half the table is already under 100BB… Sorry I just have one suggestion on a hand, feel free to ignore! That AQc hand, I think in theory your logic is 100% sound on why you want to shove all your flushes and Acx hands here, and I think you ranged his hand strength pretty spot on as well. Having said that I think this is one of those exploitative spots where you just have to deviate and go smaller, the tight guy just isn’t going to call a shove on this board with AQ/AJ etc. So Imo I think this is a spot you should deviate from what this hand normally wants to do, you can still shove all your flushes and blockers in future hands in this exact spot with no harm being done. I know you always want to play your range perfectly, but exceptions can sometimes be made imo! Again congrats on the session and the overall success of your bankroll challenge
@BluffaloSam11 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! I'm gonna assume they had overpairs. The AQcc hand I really didn't think he would even call a 1/3 bet here very often. So I just decided to rip it in on the off chance he levels himself/somehow has a straight.
@richardsimmonsjuggernautof978111 ай бұрын
@@BluffaloSam fair enough, yea the first two hands the villain was the aggressor so I thought they might’ve showed but I’m sure you did the classy thing and fast rolled your hand

@richardsimmonsjuggernautof9781 Yeah, I never make my opponent show. I remember a reg after he called and I said "you're good." And he just said "I called." It didn't feel great, and the guy looked miserable, so I just try not to be like him
@richardsimmonsjuggernautof978111 ай бұрын
@@BluffaloSam yea for sure I always try to fast roll my hand as well if it’s clearly the nuts, or if they say “you’re good” unless I know it’s someone notorious for slow rolling or pulling angles, then I’ll make them show. It really irritates me when I see a reg do that to a rec (make them show) when they announce “you’re good, nothing, I was bluffing” etc. Sometimes ppl will show immediately after you call or show their “big hand that got cracked” so i thought maybe it was possible they had tabled their hand.

I think the overbet iwith Aqc is unwarrented....you say guy is a tight player, your thought prococess about his range being weak is right so id have just disregarded balance and bet like 220 here. He rarely has 4x or 9x here that will hero and there next to no chance hes calling that massive bet with one pair if hes tight as you described.
@BluffaloSam11 ай бұрын
I don't think he's calling any size bet here tbh. Maybe 1/3rd. I'd rather get a 10% chance for a massive overbet than a medium chance for a tiny bet.
