Ace of Aces and Infiltrator I bought on import, as I was one of the few C64 owners with a 1541 drive. I saved up for the drive because I was always into strategy, simulations and RPGs (as they were only on floppy) more than I was arcade. I still have C64 floppy disks, in their boxes with all contents, for Gunship, Pirates, The Gold Box RPGs, Legacy of the Ancients, Ultima 4, Stealth Fighter, Destroyer etc. I did buy some "arcade" games on disk (import RPGs with lots of contents in the box cost £30, but "simpler" games packaging only cost £15!), like Summer, Winter and World Games, Great American Road Race, Racing Destruction Set, and other disk based games. This means I never had to bother with any of the multi-load tape versions of U.S. disk based games! Even though the 1541 was £200, I think I have, and continue to get, great value out of it!

Weren't US Gold more of a distributor than a developer? Because they actually had some great titles under their roster if you weren't lured by the squandered weak movie or TV tie-ins. Beach Head, Raid Over Moscow, Beach Head II and Echelon particularly come to mind, but these were actually developed by Access Software.

Good call on the top pick. It was one of those games that I got in a compilation pack, and never replayed it after the first time, where I couldn't do very much, let alone take off, for a LONG time. I clicked on this thinking "Wait! I can remember plenty of good US Gold games!" I mean, yeah, they released a lot of dross, but they were far from the worst. Mind you, I might be a bit biased by them having Kixx, which was arguably the best budget label, but their full price releases were better than people give them credit for being. Sure, they might not have been a System 3 or Thalamus, but they're weren't that far behind Ocean.

Infiltrator was one of the first games I bought back in the day. Mind you, screenshots on the packaging were sometimes misleading, just like videocassettes for the adult genre... Anyway, couldn't believe the graphics were that great, bought it and wasn't disappointed. However, after buying Microprose's 'Gunship,' I found that the more simulator minded Gunship was easier to land. It could take a rough landing or even a gliding landing (as in reality). In Infiltrator however, the helicopter felt more like a giant fueltank ready to explode at the slightest touch. Many a landing that was a tiny bit too hard, ending in explosion. Disappointing that you mentioned both Infiltrator and its sequel, what about RAID OVER MOSCOW Great graphics, fantastic gameplay, and enough variety between the different levels. And while Raid over Moscow was superior over its predecessor, 'Beach head,' this game was fantastic too. When it was released in 1983, it had no equals.

Whilst I totally appreciate the need to monetise your channel, it's always disappointing to see someone advertising those terrible "free to play" rip off games. It's like accepting money from a gambling firm, it just feels sleazy. I'd rather see VPN ads than something like this. It's your channel to run how you please (and it's a great channel), I'm just letting you know what it made me feel as a subscriber.

Lots of what were good channels with good content are now going down the too many ads and marketing route. I’ve unsubscribed to many as I think we already live in a hyper marketing world. Some videos were only a few minutes long and had 30 seconds of ads. We all need to make money but it turns subscribers off !
@oldstylegaming
@oldstylegaming 2 жыл бұрын
@@dazdaz105 the thing is with youtube now they have the rights to run ads on your videos even if you dont monetize. When i make a video and i click monetize i then go in and remove all of the ads... sometimes KZbin puts 5 ads in a 10 minute video then i place 1 ad at half way and thats it. I do realise that ads can be annoying but for me i think its a few seconds of my time so that the creator gets some money for the work they put in. I really think that people need to appreciate the time that is put into content, i mean lets say for example... i only spent 3 hrs on this video... 3 hrs overtime at my company (which is available) would bag me the best part of 120 pound... thats way more than i make off ads on a video.
