I know the New England Patriots and New York Jets went 11-5 heading into their 1985 Wild Card game. The Patriots became the first to make the Super Bowl by winning 3 postseason road games before they had no chance against the 1985 Bears.

I got eight new C-scores for a total of 674 of them out of 1,738. Sadly, we have yet to break through 39%. I hope you put up some final C-scores after the 2024 season ends.

It woulda been better to multiply the scores than to add them. If one team is at 40 and the other one is at 5 that’s a much less enthralling matchup than 20 vs 20, which multiplication would reflect. That way both teams would likely have to be quite good

Something unsprizing is all the 5-4 matchups come before 2002 and all the 6-3 matchups come after 2002, so the worst division winner from a conference was never included on this list.

Excellent point!!! I’ve said for years (literally since 2002) that 4 divisions with 4 teams is spreading things too thinly. You will invariably have 1 sorry ass division every single year. 4/5 matchups used to be so compelling. Look at 1998 for example.. packers at 49ers

Kind of surprised the 1998 and 2001 nfc wild card matchups between the packers and niners didn’t make it. Curious to know where all 4 teams rank in C-Score

The 98 game was 15th, missed the list by around 2.3 points. Niners around a 25, Packers around a 12.5. The 01 game was 21st, missed out by around 5 points. Both teams in the 17 range.
