I have had a leopard gecko for about seven months and I agree with you they are amazing and I don’t think it’s legal for people to think they’re boring 😀
@amykhi2 жыл бұрын
Mine for whatever reason doesn’t like being handled. But he will follow my finger outside the glass, and accepts food from my finger. Many people only want one just to hold and touch it, which is still cool, but there’s so much more to them than that!

I full heartedly agree with everything you say about bearded dragons. They are very expensive and somewhat time consuming (if you want to do it right) but in the end I couldn’t ask for a more personable and adorable creature.

Nicely presented. The Peters Banded skink and/or the Fire skink have been on my radar if I ever make the leap into other lizards (besides my Leopard gecko I mean.) Appreciate you showing those species. I had no idea they would take food off of tongs like that. Your fire skink was actually following you.

3/4 of my lizards made the list and I whole heartedly agree with these! The best is seeing the different personalities in each species. My AFT is seriously shy but so sweet and like a treat when I get to interact with him. My crestie is an absolute maniac but probably my favorite to handle and I love that he’s out at night. My beardie is the scaley puppy dog of the house. She has such a laid back personality but she requires a lot of attention. Very important that you stress the research part of owning a lizard. Took me an entire year of researching until i felt confident bringing in my beardie. They are definitely not beginner reptiles but SO worth it. IMO best pet lizard there is ❤️

I’ve had a leopard gecko for 2 years and I love him so much ! What I love about them is that their personality really varies from gecko to gecko, they’re all different and unique. Mine is always super active in the evening and loves to see me and to be handled, he has so much energy he loves going out of his terrarium. Literally everyone that meets my leopard gecko Rango, ( even people who don’t really like reptiles ) always fall in love immediately with him and his cute smile. I 100% agree leopard geckos are incredible pets and good for beginners !

My fire skink Binx passed away last year and he was the absolute sweetest boy and would lay on my chest in the sun by my pool. He loved being hand fed and would crawl up my arm out of his cage to fall asleep on my chest. He has a little grave outside of my house and I miss him everyday ❤️

When I was younger (before the kids😂) I had reptiles. Red tail boas, water dragons, a Schneider skink, and a fire skink. I don't know if you can even find Schneider skink anymore, but he was awesome! I recently got back into the community and was looking at either a bearded dragon or a leopard gecko. I made the leap with my sweet little leopard gecko, Thor and our whole family is enjoying him immensely! 🦎❤️

Some of my favorite reptiles that weren’t on your list are emerald swifts (males are beautifully colored, females less so but still awesome) and mourning geckos (parthenogenic, lay multiple 2 egg clutches once adults and adorable to watch them explore their environment). My bahaman anoles are awesome to watch as well. They run fast, jump high and far, and will devour any insect that they can get their mouths on. Thanks for a great video. I love seeing your reptiles in action. ☺️

For me the best pet lizard is the RANKIN'S DRAGON also known as PYGMY BEARDED DRAGON. I have them as my first lizards (not my first reptiles though, that are pond sliders I still have). They are the only other species of bearded dragon available in captivity besides the central bearded dragon. But many people never heard of them. They have similar character to central beardies but are about the size of a Leopard gecko. They are social animals so cohab very well (they live in small groups in the wild). I have a pair and I love them so much. They are great if you find a regular beardie to be to big but want something to handle that is day active and has the bearded dragon personality in a smaller package. I personally also think they look better compared to regular beardies. I do not like skinks because the appearance of having no neck and having those small limbs (sausage with small legs just doesn't do it for me :) ), but I do love the look of the crocodile skink, probably because It doesn't really look like a skink. Mainly like the white eyed variant. But I would never get them because they are not for handling and are often hidden. :( My future wishes are to one day get Australian Eastern Water Dragons (seen video's of how interactive even wild ones are, and they look amazing) and Armadillo Girdled Lizards (because tiny Ankylosaurus :) ). Other animals high on my wish list are Frilled Dragons and Ackie Monitors.

I love my leopard gecko. I have also had a ball python. So I dare to say that the leopard gecko is the ball python of the snake world. They do not have much activity. I do love when I see here walking from one side of her enclosure to the other but even feeding isn't that fun. I would say that a bearded dragon is a great lizard that is interactive and you get great interaction with. One day I will have another bearded dragon. I do however enjoy my leopard gecko though.

i have a question, any advice would be much appreciated! so, i have 2 female leopard geckos, housed in separate tanks. when i got them, one was significantly bigger than the other. the smaller one was extremely skittish which i just assumed was because it was very young and unfamiliar with me. as they grew older, i gave it time, id put my hand in the vivs and mads sure i made slow movements, they see me feed them, i talk to them everyday so they know my voice. ive had them for around 8 months by now. the one that was larger when i bought it is completely fine and can be handled great with no issues at all. the one that was smaller STILL to this day is scared. ive gotten her okay with my hand being in the tank, and she will even sit on my hand and let me pet her somewhat, but anytime i even try to lift my hand up, or shift it in any way that would involve me moving her, she bolts. i dont know what to do. she should be used to me by now and ive done absolutely everything ive seen online to do, and have been consistent with it. she’s just about if not fully grown by now, but still i have made the bare minimum in progress and am at a complete loss as to why. any tips, suggestions, anything? i dont know what to do at this point.

Can you elaborate on why leachies aren't a beginner reptile? Is it because of their temperament or the size commitment, cost or something else? From what I've heard they're the same difficulty to care for as other new caledonians aside from their personalities so I'm just curious!
@JessicasAnimalFriends2 жыл бұрын
It’s just the size of the enclosure and the reptile! I think if you have experience with new cals already & you have the knowledge that leachie’s can bite you, you’re fine!

I just got a leopard gecko on Saturday and we have a heat lamp for him which they told us we need to keep on for 12 hours and off for 12 hours and to keep the temp between 70-90 degrees however the temp somehow always exceeds that within the 12 hour time period. What am i doing wrong? What can i do about this temp issue? Also if you have any extra tips that would be super helpful!
@Lana-dk2ie2 жыл бұрын
Maybe you can get a heatmat instead, and connect a thermostat? That issue seems like somethings wrong with the lamp. You can probably get a new one too. You can watch more of her videos to learn more about heating 4 leos too!!

@SohiHien2 жыл бұрын
You likely have too high of a wattage for the bulb, one heat bulb doesn't work for everyone. The wattage of the bulb will depend of how high you need your temps, size of the tank, distance to the basking spots, temperature of the room the tank is in etc. All heating devices bulbs or mats all should be on a thermostat to avoid the temperatures getting too high. If you are turning all heat off at night you should make sure that the tank isn't getting too cold at night with 0 heat sources. They need enough heat at night too! I really suggest you do some more research, it seems like maybe you did not do enough or were given some bad advice.
