Trials of Mana Once was locked in Japan but now realeased worldwide cause of Collection of Mana. Later, it got a remake and it was very good. Fun gameplay, awesome music, fun characters, good replay value and a good story too. Sure it has some flaws like the English voice acting is lol bad and funny but it did very well compared to Secret of Mana Remake. By the way my favorite character in Trials of Mana are Kevin and Charlotte, love those two sweethearts.

Resident Evil Remake should be on the top of this list. Easily the best RE game still to this day and a perfect example on how you should remake a game. Pokemon Gen 1 and 2 remakes are super good, too. Can't believe HeartGold/SoulSilver didn't make it to the list and no one mentions these games in the comments.

I know asypr and crystal dynamic are doing tomb raider 1 to 3 remastered for modern consoles like ps4, ps5, xbox and nintendo switch it comes out in feb 2024 dunno if they gonna use the anniversary engine but they probly are

@@clintbrew I saw the trailer for that. It doesn’t look like it’ll use the Anniversary engine. It looks a lot like what you get if devs did the barest minimum to remaster the games for modern consoles. Lara’s mouth doesn’t even move when she speaks.

The picks on this list are pretty good, but I'd also like to mention some more: - Super Mario Brothers 3 remake on the SNES Took an legendary game and elevated it even further Resident Evil 1 Remake on Gamecube - WOW. Just 1 generational difference was enough to get a timeless look to one ot the grandfathers of the survival horror genre - Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled - One of the best cart racing games ever made not only gets a faithful remake of its campaign, cast, and tracks it ALSO becomes a love letter to the rest of the Crash cart racing games and the franchise as a whole. Beenox went above and beyond when all we were asking for was a simple remake. The content on offer here is nuts. - Trials of Mana Going from being a Japanese only release for 25 years before not only getting localized on the Switch but a full blown remake? And the game still holds up to this day, despite hewing very close to the original's contents. - Live-A-Live Remake This shit was Japan-only but considered an unappreciated gem for decades before Square-Enix went insane and remade the hell out of it. Again, it is very faithful to the original game showing that we had an all-time classic just... sitting there for decades - Star Ocean 2: The Second Story R This one is very recent but WOW. Hearing diehards go through the game with a fine-tooth comb and find that the dev team has seemingly, and consciously touched and improved every aspect of a lgendary game is something else. The team behind the remake showed they didn't just respect SO2, but absolutely love it with really thoughtful QoL improvements, judicious changes here and there all while retaining the game as a whole. Sometimes you can feel the labor of love behind a project. I could go on and on, but damn at this point the industry has no excuse to churn out bad remakes. We have plenty of examples to live up to as is. And for those who want remakes to stop? It's not going to happen. They existed before you fell out of your mother, and they'll continue long after you're dust. Media deserves to be preserved, updated, and made available to future generations.

I loved FF7R, but they sure did their best to make Aerith one of the most annoying idol like characters ever. I didn’t play the original yet so I don’t know if she acted like that there too, but it’s seriously annoying. The chapter that properly introduces her is the most boring and drawn out one, and is pretty much just there to explain to everyone how amazing she is. It doesn’t help that you need to play through it at least three times to get every trophy

Star Fox 64: "remake it again" ....they did. It was the dumpster fire that was Star Fox Zero. 64 is amazing for sure, and it's a remake of the SNES original...sticking to the same tired idea story-wise is part of the problem. We need a new entry that continues from Assault, not yet another rehash of SNES/64 ( and definitely not whatever the hell Command was supposed to be...Anglar & his forces were cool & I liked the other new characters like Lucy & Amanda but the branching story & many endings were as god awful as Zero's control scheme gimmick ) also: Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen Pokemon Heart Gold & Soul Silver Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Super Mario All-Stars The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening ( Switch remake ) Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X Metroid Zero Mission Advance Wars 1 & 2 Re-Boot Camp and I already want to include Another Code Recollection....

I believe that the remakes of Secret of Mana & Trials of Mana (especially the second!!!) should also be on the list. The original games might be ahead of their time, but their controls look kind of tough by today's standards (especially in the ios android port!!!), and I believe that the remakes are WAY more accesible to those not familliar with the franchise!

One of the first remakes I think I’ve ever seen is the one for resident evil on the GameCube and that is still one of the best ones I’ve ever ever played. But then resident evil four just got a remake itself, and it’s one of the best of its kind. I would say Samus Returns, Mario RPG, Final Fantasy seven, resident evil, resident evil four fire emblem shadow dragon are my favorites.

Not exactly a remake, but fans have been porting jak 1and 2 to PC and it runs beautifully and looks amazing. It's almost as much improvement as you'd expect from a remake. Still some bugs but I have no doubt that when this project is done, we'll have some amazing new jak experiences implemented by modders.

While Samus Returns is an nice remake and an solid way to play an version of Metroid 2, I think Zero Mission does an Metroid remake far better than Samus Returns because aside of just being an remake of Metroid 1, it felt brand new and has better replay value. And if we're gonna count mods, than AM2R would also top that and the best version of Metroid 2.

Black Mesa, the Half-Life remake, has got to be one of the most ambitious community-made remakes of them all. It brought new life into a game that defined the FPS genre. Am rather shocked that didn't make the list.
