Number 8 Wetaskiwin, seriously. This place has one of the highest crime rates in Canada. It has been either at the top or near the top for the last 5 yrs and the rate is still climbing. Wetaskiwin also has the highest property tax rate in Alberta, water and sewage rates are through the roof. Maybe do some economic checking and crime rates, don't go by what the city has on it's web page.

You can't just pick up and go live in Banff. You have to own a business in Banff National Park. And a simple bungalow, you're starting at $1million. Same for Jasper, and Canmore will also run you $850k just for a townhouse. Your "info" is very inaccurate and misleading.

1/2 of these towns are tourist traps, the others half are either too dangerous or minimum wage even. (AB minimum wage is one of Canada"s lowest while average cost living is creeping near the top of the list.

I would not recommend one city in all of North America, as Rural life is the only life . Knowing where your food comes from , chopping your own firewood and relying on your life skills for survival is what the human spirit was made to do . Survive and thrive . Cities are for the lazy , who need a Starbucks on every corner to feel comfortable and the cities of Alberta have so many immigrants now that most culture of old is gone , which has been followed by homelessness and crime. Small towns like Tumbler Ridge , Peace river , ect should be high on the list . Full of old stock Canadians teaming with Real Canadian culture .

I agree with you a 100% we need country not city's and most of the towns have high crime rates and I heard Alberta's newest thing is they can't keep up with there energy electricity and all that which isn't good I do like the areas where there is lots of wilderness and a beautiful area with nice houses in a rural setting is bearspaw outside of calgray

There are better smaller towns than these to live in, in Alberta. Banff, Cochrane, and Canmore are very costly to buy a house. We moved from B.C. to Rimbey. Bought a nice house for 1/2 the money in these other towns. I grew up in Alberta so back to colder weather and snow but closer to family. It all depends what your wants and needs are. Check out more than one or two places. Talk to the locals.
