Hey, do you happen to have a BOM (Or at least the screws etc) necessary for the upgraded spool winder by Diplomator that you showcased? Going over the required items in the Printables for it is rough, and I don't want to have to spend on fasteners I won't use a lot of. Thanks in advance!

Thank you for the great advice, seriously well presented. I just picked up my X1C today. Going through the amazon list, is the "Vertical Heat Press Machine" absolutely necessary for the spool switcher/rewinder?
@ristinnovations

No, it’s not necessary, but you will need a solder iron to add the metal inserts. The press just makes it easier to put the inserts straight in the holes. Good luck with your X1C!

Just one comment to the LED riser. I have the same. One thing you need to ensure is that the lights are on by the time the print starts as that is when the camera does the white balanace. If you switch the lights on mid print you will see the white balance is completely off and you won't see anything. The design mentioned here doesn't seem to cause problems with the LIDAR either - which is great.

An issue with many LED upgrades is that they interfere with the lidar, which is possibly why Bambu have the lights so dark and have tinted glass panels anyway.
@ristinnovations
@ristinnovations Жыл бұрын
Yes that is a good point. That’s why I like my upgrade because I can use the remote to turn off the LEDs until after the printer has completed the LiDAR calibration. Also, I mainly use the texture plate, which isn’t compatible with the LiDAR anyway. But you do bring up a good point. Thanks for your comment.

I did the light mod and used the same light kit. I noticed that if you select a brightness less than full that it will cause the camera picture to flicker. I just use the 100% setting, but if you want to use the others, then a capacitor between the + and - may eliminate this flicker. Not worth the trouble to me. Just wanted others to know about the flicker. BTW, that's not a White Balance issue.

You do bring up a good point. I couldn't find a max. temperature rating in the link I used for the LED lights I bought on Amazon. The only thing I remember from the original Printables article was that they recommended to use hot melt glue to attach the LED strips to the 3D printed parts because the self-adhesive didn't hold up to the higher temperatures within the 3D printer. I haven't had any issues with the LEDs I installed, but I'm not running the printer at 70 degrees C continuously. Please let me know if you find LEDs that are rated for 70 degrees C. Thank you so much for your efforts - absolut great videos! P.S. I will not again start a thread about your comment section, as it is clearly a huge improvement - at least in my eyes. It’s a good question. I wanted to avoid directly connecting the LED add-on to Bambu’s power source because I didn’t know if it would affect the Bambu electronics. It turns out that the added LED would impact the LiDAR. The added LED can also affect the camera so I’m glad I use a separate power source which also allows me to turn on and off the added LED when ever I want. Thanks for the question and for subscribing😊

@@ristinnovations No I dont have to adjust my volume level,however, the boom on the vocal audio is noticeable, anyone that starts talking will initially start louder and then adjust their natural spoken volume, A limiter allows you to set the level so it is never exceeded, the quality of the audio track once limited/compressed is very noticeable, you can get free plugins that should work with whichever audio software you are using.

Thanks for a great video! I printed the Spool Winder and love it. I did run into a couple of issues printing on my Bambu Labs X1 Carbon. The axles did not fit and needed to have the XY dimensions reduced to 94%. I also learned Gold Silk was not a good choice for axles though it worked fine for the lower body. They ended up breaking. The inserts I got were a little too big for the holes and caused some bulging. My last issue was the motor is not powerful enough when the take up spool gets loaded. I'll do some searching to see if there is smaller drive gear to provide more power.

The 200 RPM motor worked great. No slow down as the take up reel gained filament. I also modified some parts to better fit together and address a couple of issues. - Manual drive axle. Removed the insert hole by the handle. I had an axle snap under load. - Drivetrain. Modified the 128mm and 32mm axles for better fit with the gear and bearing - Sled. Created a bearing clip to hold the bearing in the holder. Also made a worm gear spacer to keep the worm gear in place. I had an issue with the worm gear disengaging from the drive gear. The 47mm axle was modified to remove the insert hole on the bottom and thickened slightly to better fit the bearing. I’ll post a remix to Diplomater’s site.

@@ristinnovations Sure 🙂 I noticed that your holder for the printer beds sticks out quite a long way. I thought that, maybe, if you attached a couple of hinges (one at the top, one at the bottom) where the holder connects to the cleat you could fold the holder against the wall horizontally. It would use up a bit of useable space on your cleat when folded but I guess you could offest that by hanging it at the end of your cleat and folding it away from the other tools placed next to it. If it still doesn't make sense, I can try to knock something together in Fusion but I really don't hink I can get to it for a week or so. Being Christmas and all that.

is there some one who modifies the ams to be compatible with flexibles? Really need it to the next level

I’m not aware of any AMS upgrades that can handle TPU. I only print TPU using the external spool holder. Thanks for the question.

You'll probably have seen the spools from Bambu Reusable Spool that split in half and allow the transfer of filament from cardboard spools by now.

@@ristinnovations I got the bug 4 years ago and have been trying all the possible 3D printing areas I could get access to. Generally, people contact me and ask for things to be printed, strange things usually, a molecular modal dress for the World of wearable (WOW) arts fashion show and a museum quality replica Gurnard fish that a millionaire wanted instead of a stuffed fish on his wall, even printed a meter high Mars rocket for a Mars lander themed Santas Grotto last Christmas. It's been a fun ride. Never been brave enough to do a video though like you, much respect.

How did you actually get Awesome Filament Spool Rewinder to print on an X1C? People I have talk to are having a terrible time time printing this, esp. the gears which are giving non-manifold edges issues. Simplify and repair are not working on them ? What setting did you use to print these parts ?
@ristinnovations
@ristinnovations 11 ай бұрын
I followed Miklos Kiszely’s recommendations on Printables. I’m not sure why I didn’t have any issues compared to you, but maybe if you contacted Miklos he could offer more specific advice sine he was the creator of the original files.

I used Miklos's Update 2, but I also reprinted several of the gears using Diplomator's stl files because they had improved the designs of many of the parts.@@brucewilfong538

Cool video and upgrades. I preferred a dehydrator instead of the desiccant beads as sometimes the beads won't return to original dry state. So, it can become a consumable and they won't do a lot for drying out the filament just more of a humidity maintainer.

Hello Rist! I've printed many of these, and one aesthetic only upgrade I might mention is the fancy PEY/PEO sheets I've purchased from the Juupine Aliexpress store. I have one of each kind of their build plates and they all work great on my P1P! I also know in the X1 they might not function super well with the LIDAR, as even the bambu textured sheets can be an issue there, but as long as you've already calibrated the filament on a different build plate I wouldn't see any issues in using them

NOT TO BUY It would be good that you comment that there is no technical service and that with a new printer I am unable to print with an open incident for 6 days and no one gets in touch and there is no other way to get in touch, do not answer in networks, in mails, in the support service .... when the service of other printers like Creality respond instantly. Very disappointed, I do not recommend at all to buy until they are ready.

That respooler is an awful design. It breaks easily, and it’s nearly Impossible to build due to absurdly tight tolerances. Just print a simple dual-cone that adapts to a power drill and be done with it.
