The map of Final Fantasy XV is big, but most of the map is blocked by invisible walls and areas you can only enter once. So as an open world, I would say its small.

Judt some cotrections. No Man's Sky does not have an "open universe" map. It is divided in large sectors (star systems), and the onkh way to get from one sector to the other is with the warp drive, which is basically the loading screen for your fast travel to the other sector. A game I woild argue thag has the largest true open world or open universe map would be Megaton Rainfall, as you have a literal universe sized map, with bilkions of galaxies that you can visit, and all of the transitikns are seamlessly. You can literally fly from Earth, to the Sun, to another planet in the Milky Way, to leaving the galaxy and going into the literal ocean of galaxies without any loading screens.

I for one cannot wait until they release a revamped version of knights of the old republic or some other Star Wars open world video game, with access to multiple planets and the ability to completely explore them. Imagine being able to completely explore tatooine, start walking, and walk completely around the planet with it being 1:1 size. Imagine being able to explore the depths of the oceans of manaan, the entire forest floors of kashyyk, the entire sith planet. I wouldn’t even care that walking distances like that would take forever. Just invest in force speed.

I think Final Fantasy XV should have allowed the player to properly explore and do missions/hunts in the Succarpe region but do so in a way to drive home the point that the Empire had used up and threw away the area: show the region as being run down, sparsely populated and have the mission rewards be minimal.

It's was nice list even my heart get little hurt when Final fantasy XV came in English dub (which was so horrible to listen), because i love that game, but Japanese voices of course (because there is my number 1 Japanese voice actor). Why on that list wasn't any assassin's creed games like odyssey, because on that game has big open world too.

I would mention Project zombie. While if we assume 1 tile is 1 meter it's about 90 square kilometers, there is still reasons to mention it: 1) it's not just square kilometers but also the fact that you can enter any building and interact with envirenment. For example in GTA we see thousands of buildings but now many you can explore? 2) Movement speed, even by car does not allow you to fly through entire map in minutes like in those racing games. 3) it's a cool game worth mentioning. It didn't cost much when I bought it and Devs constantly working on it for years making it better and better (expanding map as well) without need to buy additional dlc (though they have done so much in the game that I think to buy second copy, just because I feel bad for buying it for that money)
