In "Whatever Happemed to the Man of Tomorrow?", Superman didn't killed Mr. Mxyzptlk accidentally, he did it on purpose because he knew the danger of his existance and that's the exact reason for him to choose loosing his powers, because no one should kill, no even him, specially him.

@@michaelsong5555 I didn't say anything about All Star Superman, because I haven't read it yet. But the entire hook of "The Death of Superman " was the death of Superman. In that story, Superman didn't have time to think about his legacy, because his "death " came suddenly. And then Superman turned out not to be dead, so all of the hype was pointless.

@@supercode2825 Well, nobody expected Superman to stay dead. The point of the arc was that Superman can be beaten without exploiting his weaknesses (DD just beat him to death with his fists). But yeah, it was indeed pointless. But it was a big deal when it was first released.

Superman saving Regan from committing suicide not by catching her and flying away, but by offering her kind words and support is literally the most beautiful moment in comics history. All Star Superman absolutely deserves its top spot.

I like "Superman's Metropolis" which combines the Superman mythos with the 1926 German sci-fi film Metropolis. The two properties mesh together surprisingly well. I also like "Speeding Bullets", an Elseworlds title that has Kal-El found by Thomas and Martha Wayne and he is raised as their son, Bruce, only for him later to become a superpowered Batman.

Glad to see "Last Son" make it on to the list. I was lucky enough to read it a while back, and I absolutely loved it. I also really liked John Byrne's "Man of Steel" series, and I really hope I can pick it up one day. And all this is coming from a guy who's not usually into comics!

One of favorite started in Action 534. Two magic welders tear him into two, with them splitting his powers, so that one has heat vision and one doesn't. There were many good Superman stories before 1985.

Well, I am surprised that Richard Donner, the director of both "The Omen" and the first "Superman" film, had got involved in doing a story for the "Superman" comic book issue called "Last Son." It made me curious about how he got to doing such a thing. I guess Mr. Donner must have been doing research by reading so many "Superman" comic books for a long time before he did the "Last Son" story. Well, thanks for your work with the others at DC Comics on such an effort, Mr. Richard Donner.

I like how it tackles Superman's psyche, his believes, how he still wants to save krypton and his interactions with Jonathan (his son) ... great read to be honest PS: you can even look it up in Comics Explained

The one story that made me love Superman’s as actually a justice league story where they were fighting another super team called the hyper clan that was actually trying to terraform the earth and it turns the team were martians but superman didn’t know that at the time and he was captured by them with the illusion of kryptonite and then Batman saves them by telling superman there martians and all of a sudden Superman’s eyes glow red with pure rage and he yells martians and basically lights the martians up. It’s such a good story

Personally, Kingdom Come and All-Star Superman are tied to top 3 alongside The Death of Superman. Honorable mention to Superman Birthright and to Superman/Batman:Apocalypse(which has been adapted to an animated movie in 2010). Pretty solid list, btw.

I can think of any number of Superman stories better than Man of Steel, especially when you consider of much of Byrne's changes have scrapped in favor of homages to the Mort Weisinger/Julius Schwartz Silver Age continuity. And for me, Geoff John's best Superman story is "Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes."

Should've said superman vs the elite derived from that comic what's wrong with truth, justice and the american way. Same with motion comic red son. It's so important to look for different versions. I also liked Superman in Emperor Joker. Batman the brave and the bold was good with that episode though no superman characters. Do find kingdom come to be boring. For the man who has everything great justice league episode. All star superman legendary movie, showing Clark save Lex Luthor 3 times while bumbling was legendary, let alone doing it in a way that Luthor couldn't tell he was Superman. I liked last son of earth trilogy, fun comics.
