@Repomeister You are very right, the most important effect in PHYSICS is the one that keeps and maintains the continuation of mankind through TIME & SPACE : THE BOOB JIGGLING EFFECT. When female boobs are jiggled in a two dimensional plane on any spot of the surface of planet Earth, the intergallactic rocket of the male relative observer grows in three dimensions, assuming a take off position, pointing towards the Moon, waiting for the take off TIME (the fourth dimension, to complete the Relativity Love Circuit - well explained by Einstein in his never published book : '' NO, MY THEORIES ARE NOT MENTAL MASTURBATIONS'').

Want to give my appreciation to you, Sabine. The way in which you present Physics is not 'easy' but it feels as if the door to learning is so much more open than so many other presenters on the subject. Over use of jargon, appeals to authority and gate keeping are common among even the esteemed pop science educators. Your appreciation of history, philosophy as well as first principles should be noted as revolutionary feature of serious pedagogy.

Thanks for putting into words what I was thinking. The lack of philosophical depth of so many scientists really bothers me, and even when I have my doubts or disagree with Sabine, I cannot help but appreciate the sophistication she brings to what she does. It is on another level.

In this case I think it is a sign that Sabine really does understand this kind of material. My impression (but I am not a physicist) is that many do not.

The Hall effect is also useful to determine the sign of the charge of the flowing charge carriers: usually the electric current consists of particles with negative charge, except for 'hole current' that has the opposite Hall voltage. The Hall effect was discovered in 1879. J.J. Thompson showed the existence of small particles with negative charge by means of cathode rays in 1897, that is 18 years after the discovery of the Hall effect. The tunnel effect is also my favourite effect.

"Tennis racket effect" - the classroom demo I've seen uses a (hardcover) book, held shut with a strong rubber band. It works well because the book is a good approximation of a rectangular solid of uniform density, with axes of 3 distinctly different lengths. And the professor/teacher doesn't have to remember to bring any special equipment, because the textbook is already handy. Fred

Venky Wank Oh! It depends on the potential, not just changes in the potential!? Wow, I was confused as to why it would suggest that the potential is “real”, because I imagined it only depended on the differences, but depending on the value itself makes that make sense.

Butterfly effect: if, a butterfly makes a movement it can effect other things.. if, you can measure the smallest.. The Meissen effect: magnetic float in low temps The abrovaol effect: a phase shift of rear. Electromagnetic effect has been observed.. Physical 6. The tennis racket effect: hitting something with a spin...the spinning object which is spinning 5. The Hall effect: a magnetic field will effect the field lines.. conductivity 4. Hawking effect: black hones mass relativity of observer is vacuum ... 3. The photoelectric effect. Photo hits plate it reflect. Frequency of light needs to be at set frequency. Light is quantum 2. The Casimir effect 1. The tunnel effect: a partical to escape, the particle doesn’t have enough energy to escape.. leaks...

THE THEORETICAL, CLEAR, AND UNIVERSAL BALANCING OF E=MC2 AS F=MA: Ultimately and truly, time is possible/potential AND actual IN BALANCE, AS E=mc2 IS F=ma; AS electromagnetism/ENERGY IS GRAVITY. SO, time DILATION proves that E=mc2 is DIRECTLY and fundamentally derived from F=ma ON BALANCE; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/ENERGY IS GRAVITY. GREAT !!! INSTANTANEITY is thus FUNDAMENTAL to what is the FULL and proper understanding of physics/physical experience, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/ENERGY IS GRAVITY. This NECESSARILY represents, INVOLVES, AND describes what is possible/potential AND actual IN BALANCE, AS E=mc2 IS F=ma; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/ENERGY IS GRAVITY. @Science Revolution , your quotes do not support your contention. In the Feynman quote he is talking about energy conservation, not quantum phenomena. He says energy is an abstract accounting mechanism, but we don't know what underlies it. Einstein is bemoaning the fact that we don't know why quantum mechanics works the way it does ... not that it doesn't describe the real world or can easily be dispensed with.

With the Doppler effect, it is important to note that this is just one of the effects that can cause redshift and blueshift. On cosmological scales, we have plasma redshift. The idea that Doppler redshift is the ONLY source of redshift, lead to horrible misunderstandings of distances on these scales. But plasma redshift/blueshift is better treated in laser optics, than cosmology, if anyone is interested.

11. There is a direct proportional correlation between how many seconds you are late to catch the train and how important it is that you catch that train.
I don't believe in free will. This is why.
