From my observations, a future-proof career will be based on two critical components: the ability to think (curiosity, long-term learning, etc.) and communicate well (plain English, the art of persuasion, knowledge of psychology, etc.).

I feel the AI 20 years from now will be able to have both those skills at a very high level. The point people seem to miss is that when you bring something into this world that is more competent than the average person in intelligence, decision making and data interpretation, there are very few jobs that it wont be able to do. In fact, almost every single one of these jobs listed in the video are still very susceptible to AI... it just that it may take a little longer but definitely in the span of all our lives.

@@paulsings3140 What you seem to miss is that it doesn't matter if it CAN do the job. . .. The question becomes : "should we use this for the job?" Lemme put it to you this way. . . .You can calibrate an A.I. to write your software for you. . . . And then constantly have to do a bunch of guesswork because it will produce bad code that breaks. . . . OR. . . .You could hire a programmer. With A.I. code writing, all you really did was invent overseas programmers from India. . . .You get code fast and cheap, but its bad, busted and doesn't work and you can't communicate what is wrong with it without tedious work that will make it VERY hard to deliver your software. The facts that are in front of us that we aren't seeing is that we already have cost effective solutions to the jobs A.I. is offering to take, and the juice just will NOT be worth the squeeze. You could for example : Hire an A.I. to be your therapist. An A.I. cannot sense when you are feeling down or angry and empathically adjust their approach to you to help your mental state, but rather it produces a one size fits all result that pushes people towards a single optimized goal. This is what we call an "Objective function". A.I. does not specialize results, it generalizes them. Tl;dr : A.I. is a digital shovel that is gold plated and costs 300 dollars in a world where 1$ shovels exist already. We have seen that it CAN do jobs, but the cost to doing them just isn't worth it. . . . And one can make the argument that "A.I. will get smarter and eventually be able to do everything." But that's not how A.I. works. . . . It gets smarter and does ONE thing very well (I'm paraphrasing.) For example : Our current A.I. art will get better at drawing hands, but it will always have that A.I. art "stink" on it, in the sense that. . . .A.I. art looks the same. Almost ubiquitous in its output. Training models for commercial applications to replace employees is just unfeasible. . . .Because an employees job is more than what an A.I. is capable of doing. You can draw a very good picture of a woman with big tits and ass, you however cannot get a character design that fits with the theme that your character is being drawn for. Nor can you freely control the clothing the A.I. puts on the character without careful calibration and even that is very bad.

This is depressing. I wish I can go back 20-30 years when things were more simple. The first time I heard of AI I knew it was bad news. Creating something to one up humans with the facade of “making things easier”. This all sounds exhausting. Upskilling, tech, AI, engineering are things I could care less about and I’m not about to fool myself into thinking I will have a “passion” and God how I’ve come to hate that word. If most of us were millionaires we could care less about finding a passionate job. I would just invest into companies and properties all the time. The thought that I will have to spend 20-40 years sitting at a desk for 40-50 hours a week trying to beat a robot is dreadful . I’m not sure what my kids will have to do to feed their families or if they will even be able to buy their own property. I absolutely despised tech/engineering when I was in college which is why I went the teaching route. Someone mentioned it in the comments but technical analysis isn’t everyones cup of tea. I’m in the middle of a career change right now and I’m trying to study some skill that will have leverage in the future. Teaching is ok but the pay will have me living paycheck to paycheck. The only options that will have me living decently would be roles related to software or data. Yes there are other non-traditional options like becoming an entrepreneur but you need money to start and connections. It’s like if I don’t do anything I will be swallowed whole buy AI and if I do give in I will be miserable everyday doing something I hate. It feels like I’m being pushed into a corner but hey as a girl there’s always the option of marrying rich in my 20s because that’s what’s trending now.

Great video! One problem I fear from all of this is that as more and more jobs can be automated, the competition for the other jobs that are left will increase. I hate to sound like a pessimist, but even in those fields that are safe for the time being, I believe the automation within those fields will reduce the need for human intervention. Hopefully those careers you mentioned will continue to be safe for a long time. I was thinking, there does seem to be some what of a return to spending more time with people face to face, and it seems like we’ll always want to socialize. So, I think some powerful technologies in the future could be ones that enhance our time with friends. Something like how laser tag must have felt when it first came out. It’s integrating tech into a game that already existed. I could see things like people playing augmented reality mini golf or ping pong with their friends in their own backyards. It seems like some bank will be made in things like that in the future.

When the credit card and debit cards started implementing the chip, not everyone was all for it. Now no one has a choice since the "old" cards got phased out. Idk where you live because in my observation people strongly prefer self-checkout at grocery stores because it’s faster. I’m guilty too, the times I’ve actually went the cashier route was either because the store didn’t offer the option or the self-check out lane is so long its not worth it. However, self-checkout systems that aren’t designed well come off as a nuisance that will piss people off and they’ll ignore it entirely.
@TheRockyCrowe Жыл бұрын
@@MMsaint5 I think that’s EXACTLY what will happen. The systems in place will only support old models of operation for so long before forcefully upgrading. Reminds me about how I held onto my PlayStation 2 for years as a kid until I was forced to upgrade because the manufacture stopped servicing the console and making games for it. I don’t think we have to worry about cars for awhile due to the fact oil is still the most reliable option and infrastructure isn’t ready to support powering millions of EV vehicles overnight, but you’re not wrong, it will happens eventually.

@@TheRockyCrowe I’m from PA. Worked at a grocery store for years in high school. If you eat healthy they are a massive pain. Looking up all the produce is ridiculous. If you have an injury your just screwed totally and they don’t deliver groceries everywhere and people on food stamps can’t get the food delivered. I could go on and on as to why it’s bad all around. More in person checkouts and less self checkout. Try bagging your groceries with a torn tendon or broken arm or going threw chemo….

I have studied physics also (and did a fortran course there) in the 90ies, and eventually I turned into linux around 10 years ago (passing through some basic telecommunication position, and since all the relevant servers were on Linux or Solaris, I decided to learn linux deeper, so I popped into linux admin jobs) , I also did a technical support engineer for docker and kubernetes the previous 2 years. But I started a C++ junior developer job 2 months ago, for embedded systems (microcontrollers). I decided to start this position because they are still using C++98, so I wanted to do this old C++ version for a couple of years before moving to C++11 . Fell free to contact me for advise and giving you some insight for some of the fields that I have been into.

Well,all these are only Tech or Software as a service related careers.Misleading.Most of our social problems need real work interventions on ground e.g language in education or health care providers are in demand.

Hi there! In the title it states IT. It specifically states I will be sharing around jobs in informational technology. 💓 not misleading.

That was 10 years ago dude, now the games industry is trying to be a respectable industry to be work at. And you can always switch to VR, AR engineer for non-game industries if you want, no problem. At least you'll be paid more than web devs.

Maybe 5-10 years ago, but it's saturated and extremely competitive now. I have friends with PhD's that have been working in data science and ML for a few years and they are being laid off. Nothing is future proof.

programmers overall will be out of jobs too... since ai can program already (it's just waiting a few years before we see, that ai can better code than we can, and faster) Sad, but without regulations of AI, this will be very likely the scenario
