Hard disagree. I can only speak for myself, but I find it to be least expressive and engaging art style, as well as the one that aged the fastest. I greatly prefer for them to always shake up the art style they use, especially if it leans towards style over reality.

@@jedjensen7974 I do enjoy the more water color-esque style of the more recent console Zeldas, but I think another go at a similar style would be refreshing. Then again, I'm the guy that says Four Swords Adventures is his favorite Zelda and wants a modern port of the game, so I may not be the most valid person to give input on this topic.

@@ToshisGarden I wouldn't be thrilled if they tried the style again, but I do agree that it could be really promising. The one that made my skin crawl the most only managed it once, because the *sheer catharsis factor* of how you defeat it nullifies much of the creep factor. You crush Armoghoma several times and then destroy its *pitiful and terrified* true form using literally whatever means you want... Except the slingshot as it's only Zelda game to make the slingshot completely useless after an early part of the game.

My scary experience in the Zelda games is the Wallmasters at the forest temple in ocarina of time, they make this creepy roar and the shadow grows big, you then must move out of their Shadow as they drop, if you don't move out of their Shadow it will grab you and take you back to the main entrance and lose one health heart.

Skulltulas still creep me out. Their design in Twilight Princess was unforgivable. I'm glad in Skyward Sword they at least toned them down enough as to not be soul shatteringly terrifying.
@joshuaweston6531
@joshuaweston6531 Жыл бұрын
Good list! Here's my thoughts on the entries: 10. Silent Realm Guardians: I'm glad these guys are getting a shout out, even if it is at the bottom of the list. That feeling you get when they awaken and you are not close to where you need to be to get the next tear is nothing short of anxiety inducing! 09. Seahat: This isn't one that would immediately come to mind, but I suppose they do look pretty terrifying! 08. Skulltulas: Spiders are always unnerving. It's why they do so well in survival horror and Souls games. 07. Stal Enemies: I suppose they fit the bill, but only in the strictest sense. They are reanimated skeletons after all! Also, I'm going to take this opportunity to point out just what a fun boss Stallord is, as well as how great and sometimes underappreciated Twilight Princess is! 06. Poes: These little ghosts are relatively creepy throughout the series. Especially the ones that inhabit paintings in the Forest Temple. Once again, however, Twilight Princess outdid every other version with it's poes found inside Arbiter's Grounds. Seriously, those things are very unsettling... 05. Death Sword: Personally, I would have placed this nightmare in the top three at least! A fun mini boss with a genuinely demonic design. I always look forward to ending this monster when traversing Arbiter's Grounds! 04. Wall/Floor Masters: Are they creepy? Sure. Seeing an unexpected shadow slowly appear over Link isn't exactly comforting. Still, at the end of the day, they are more annoying than they are frightening. 03. Bongo Bongo: I have mixed feelings regarding this boss. It playing a giant drum is kinda silly to me, but at the same time, it's design and implications are definitely intimidating and horrific! 02. ReDead: These zombie abominations absolutely deserve to be in the top three, along with Death Sword. Especially the versions in Wind Waker, which just look so...evil, for lack of a better word. 01. Dead Hand: While I am left wondering where Majora's Mask is in all of this, (Majora's Incarnation is disturbing as hell!) I am glad to see much of the entries come from Twilight Princess. So many people want to argue that Majora's Mask is the darker entry over Twilight Princess. Granted Majora's Mask is dark, but not as dark as Twilight Princess! Yet, the top pick comes from neither of those games but rather, the classic Ocarina Of Time! I also think it's well deserving! I didn't play horror games of any kind as a child, so imagine my surprise when I got to the Bottom Of The Well, within a Nintendo game! I was so thoroughly intrigued because it was different from everything I had seen from the rest of the game. The icing on the cake was Dead Hand, an entity so thoroughly creepy in it's design that's it's stuck with me after all these years! It's not just demonic looking, like say Death Sword. There's an abstract quality to it that makes you unsure of just what this chomping monstrosity is. Then, I got the surprise of getting to face it again in the Shadow Temple, and a third time if you're playing Master Quest! While Arbiter's Grounds is close, I still think the Shadow Temple is The darkest dungeon in all of the 3D Zelda titles!

I'm an arachnophobic who grew up playing Ocarina of Time, and the Skulltulas never really scared me. Based on their motions and the focus on their backs, I never saw them as spiders, but just as giant skulls with red teeth and legs sticking out of the sides of their head. Which... does sound creepy when I spell it out like that, but even that's far less creepy than spiders for me, tee hee! Nah, the real scariest enemies in OoT for little kid me were the baby Gohma creatures. Skull-looking spiders didn't do it for me, but tiny two-legged creatures with one huge eye shuffling and hopping around, the eye flashing red as they lock on to you and pounce... yeah, that was enough for 8-year-old me to nope out of there for some time. Wallmasters too. I'd have been disappointed if they were on this list. Their shadow descending up Link with that rushing wind noise was probably what really scared me the most in that game even beyond those childhood years. Oh, and redeads. I would always avoid contact with them unless absolutely necessary. Yeah, this video is reminding me just how much Ocarina of Time scared me. Nothing else to be said about Dead Hand other than it deserves to be first place on this list. Twilight Princess was my other scariest game. I always fought redead knights from afar to avoid their shrieks and the Zant's Hands in the Palace of Twilight were so terrifying that I would turn the sound off when trying to escape them. Their music was FREAKY.

For me, the scariest enemy has to be the Like Like. In Ocarina of Time, they can drop from the ceiling. In every game, they eat your shield which really makes things tough in the original LOZ.

I wish they would reimagine and make an even scarier version of dead hand cause I’ve always liked the concept. Imo What would make it scarier is if you fail to get away before he gets to you it’s instant game over as dead hand bites your head and drags you into the ground. Also have it move faster. lol yeah yeah I know it’s Nintendo but I can dream. Also hoping tears of the kingdom brings back poes and redeads.

Could you imagine hearing the sound at 6:57-7:01 while you’re exploring through an abandoned huge building in the middle in the night while you see it moving towards you? Something about that roar has always chilled me to the bone and it still does to this day, it may be such a small detail in the game, but it’s among one of my many reasons why Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game, it’s a roar I haven’t heard in any other video game or movie to this day as well, so it feels very unique to me, so Death Sword will always be the scariest to me. The Redeads still come close though, same with Dead Hand, I think the Twilight Princess and Wind Waker Redead screams are great for different reasons, they both feel like screams that would be legitimately frightening if heard in real life, whereas the Ocarina of Time Redead scream just sounds like a screaming woman that I wouldn’t be quite as frightened to hear in real life but I’d still be startled if I heard that, because at least it’d be a sound that sounds more familiar than the Twilight Princess or Wind Waker Redead screams, it’s often the things that sound less familiar to us that are more frightening to us. As for Dead Hand, although it doesn’t make any intimidating sounds that are memorable for me, just the mere sight of something like that in real life would be creepy for me.

ReDeads are the scariest thing Nintendo has ever created. Ocarina of Time has so many terrifying moments that it scared me so many times as a kid; feels weird how the ESRB gave it an E rating at the time of release. Even these days ReDeads, Like Likes and Wallmasters get into my dreams, the game's low polycount gives them an uncanny feeling that is terrifying. That uncanny feeling hasn't lessened with the advancement of 3D graphics.

Dead Hand gave me creeps when i saw it as a Kid. Now i find him kind of annoying. And i think Bongo Bongo's Lor is more interesting than his appearance. Shows how cruel the Shiekah really are and was. The Shadow Temple is also my favorite one. I also like Armogohma tbh ^^ I find those " always happy " characters more scary like the Mask salesman.

My brother was inspired by this video to run a D&D one-shot with a false hydra. It was so good! The story was mystery based so when we were finally about to face "the monster" I turned to my husband and said "Are we about to fight a dead hand?" Based on the description of a pale white undead burrowing monster. It was terrifying, but so good!

Some of these are just unsettling and odd, rather than creepy or terrifying.

Ok. The Floor/Wallmasters, Poes, and Seahats were more annoying for me than scary, especially when the flying blimps wouldn’t let up on the charging. The Silent Realm Guardians were stressful and anxiety inducing, but overall not scary. The Stalfos warriors in OoT weren’t bad, but the ones in TP were absolutely infuriating with their little minions and screams with the giant sword (I always hated the Arbiter’s Grounds temple). But the Redeads of any game were the worst! Along with that fat multi-hand thing in OoT in the well. OoT Link must have PTSD from those things regardless of the Triforce.

The damn floormasters in WW were my least favorite thing, never mind the redead. The sounds they make still bother me.

It seems to be an uncommon one for most, but an enemy that i refuse to approach is the like likes. I hate them! They are disgusting!!

No phantoms? They’re not the scariest, but they’re definitely up there for atmosphere and intimidation

I ain’t afraid of spiders, but I know I would fight the skulltulas in the Zelda games and the most terrifying spider villain I would fight is Armogohma. We haven’t seen Armogohma and the skulltulas appear in Breath of the Wild and I want them to return in Tears of the Kingdom.
