The Chuck E Cheese restaurant I once went to was a really wholesome highlight. I just had my open heart surgery when I was seven years old, so I spent months with basically “no fun allowed” for the sake of my own safety, and for obvious reasons. However, I decided that when I finally recover, my family and I host an “All Better Party” at a Chuck E Cheese restaurant! Long story short, my recovery went very well and we had a successful party at Chuck E Cheese! In fact, we even went back for another party for my eighth birthday! It really is heartbreaking to see pretty much my entire childhood crumble away, whether it’s bankruptcy or being “exposed” to the “newsworthy gossips” about important things in my childhood like Disney! (That probably explains why we Disney fans don’t like being told to “Grow Up “)

I have my doubts about the reasons why restaurants like Hooters doesn't have the same appeal as before; firstly, I think that the reason why someone wouldn't be interested anymore in going to a restaurant to see girls in somewhat revealing clothing is because of the internet, where you have complete access to adult content; also, I doubt most influencers actually make a good change on body positivity, I think is quite the opposite since lots of people are full operations and can just edit their photos, giving a distorted version of reality.
@realwiggles2 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure porn has nothing to do with why this generation isn’t going to hooters. Internet porn, or at the very least, relatively easy access to porn, has existed the entire time Hooters has been around, and it’s not like strip clubs are hurting for patrons. Also, i can’t say I agree with your second point as I don’t think it has anything to do with body positivity, either. (I don’t understand the point you’re making anyway, not sure why you believe increased body positivity in society has as much, or anything really, to do with influencers as you claim. It’s pretty much just been a general shift in what many people view as being a desirable body type from the stick-thin, curveless skelton of the 90s towards curvier physiques. I’d argue that hip-hop’s increasing popularity has more to do with it than anything lol) As a dude in his mid-20s, I just don’t see the appeal in visiting a restaurant that puts its workers on display like their zoo animals or something. I don’t want to sit in a room full of a bunch of middle-aged men while knowing that these dudes my dads age are being creepy towards girls my age or younger. It just seems like a weird an uncomfortable atmosphere and I can’t understand why anyone would willing subject themselves to that situation instead of just going to an actual strip club. I’m not visiting a hooters with my family, I’m definitely not taking a date or my SO to one, and if I’m with a few of my guy friends and we’re in the mood to hangout around a dozen beautiful women for an hour or two than we’re going to a strip club instead.

The type of influencers you're thinking of, no not really. But there is a constant shift and ebb and flow of "beauty" throughout time. There was a time where being super model thin and busty was considered undesirable. And big, hefty, very curvy girls were the hot thing. Why? Because that meant she had a family that had enough money to feed her OR she was successful enough [cough] to be well fed. Thus, she was more likely to survive pregnancy and birthing children. Which made her desirable. Now those same sizes are seen as gross - but are working their way back to desirable. [Some sizes might be a medical issue but that's not for the lay person to judge, that takes a professional]. Vikings liked red haired women, and tall women. Tall women are juuuuuuust making their way back into the "Oooh that's hot" zone and even still get the issue of "A woman over 6foot is a man" or other insulting commentary. Hecc in the 80s, hairy women were HOT - then around the 90s/00s having hair anywhere but your head was seen as undesirable. And now a variety of levels of hair are seen as sexy again. There ARE plenty of influencers making strides in body positivity - hecc that huge leak of celeb's nudes [I think almost exclusively female celebs] actually helped a lot too [granted it was still disgusting and if they ever caught the jerks I hope they got a lot of time] - I remember reading one female celeb said the outpouring of LOVE from female fans going "omg your skin ISN'T perfect JUST LIKE MINE" and "oh you do have stretch marks, and tummy fat, JUST LIKE ME" etc etc etc - made her say that while screw the people who violated her privacy - she was so happy that her body [which she also felt terrible about] made so many women feel BEAUTIFUL because they realized "Hey if X celeb is a catch of a woman, and I have all those same issues, I'm a catch too!". And I think to be able to say "Despite being self-conscious about my body, my REAL body bein able to be seen made someone else realize they're beautiful too, makes me appreciate my imperfections a little bit more" is really the kind of body positivity we all need.
@anotherrandomguy88717 ай бұрын
As a young male (20), this could be true. If I want to look at women, why not look it up, or if you want to hang out with someone while looking at women, you might as well go to a certain type of club instead, tho I have no idea how many of these are around either, maybe less than hooters. Still, if I could, a club would be the first choose over hooters. The thing is however, while I doubt many other young men dislike looking at pretty women, but rather it’s doing it while eating. It would just be very awkward for some people.

I'd want one that's sort of like a middle ground. From the sounds of it, the point of Karen's Diner is to get insulted and so the staff are actually supposed to do it. But if you're being an ass, they're totally allowed to call you on it. I'd really like that for every place I go to. The whole forced good mood customer service people have is genuinely creepy and unsettling to me and I always feel uncomfortable when staff are nice to me because I can't tell if they actually mean it or if they're being forced to lie about their emotions. So basically forcing people to work all the responsibilities of a full time employee, in exchange for a chicken sandwich. I’ll have to look into it, but a lot of people were pointing out that this is supposedly illegal (which would make sense since they are doing the exact same job as an employee for no pay) But either way it comes off as really scummy that instead of just hiring these “volunteers” they’re being used to undercut actual employees. I can see this easily turning into a way discourage unionizing or negotiating for better wages. “Don’t like it here, well there are plants of ‘volunteers’ waiting to take your job”

This is the first time i have learned about cremated remains on display though and that makes this sooo much creepier... In regards to Hooters, when I see someone, male, female or otherwise, wearing a crop top with dolphin shorts, I don't see it as an opportunity to reduce them to objects. I see it as people expressing themselves in such a liberating way and being confident with it. In fact, it always makes me sad when women (the main targets) are not respected as humans, whether or not they wear revealing clothing. Also, as a huge fan of the 80's, I can say that crop tops and dolphin shorts were loved by all genders, but it's understandable that not everyone has the same interests and wants to see change that better suits the general census. In regards to Chuck E. Cheese's, I can understand how Chuck is a bad name in Australia; it's because it's slang for vomiting, so when the chain moved to the country, Chucky was renamed to Charlie.
@MsDudette21 Жыл бұрын

With Hooters, I don't think the outfits themselves are an issue. It's the fact that the restaraunt pretty much marketed itself as a place to stare at and objectify women. People can be wearing potato sacks and some gross people will still objectify them. The skimpy clothing just makes it easier. Also, choosing to dress in little clothing is fine, but it's creepy when the company uniform forces employees to dress like that. Most women who took the job were finally fine with and comfortable with the uniforms, though, unless they were just completely desperate and couldn't find work anywhere else. I'm a dude and if my job let me wear booty shorts every day I would lol.

I later found out that it wasn't just my local Ryan's that shut down, but a couple of Ryan's restaurants were shut down as well. I remember when my family had taken a trip and a Ryan's there had also been shut down, indicating that it was a stateside thing and not something that just happened locally. The restaurant remained standing for a couple of years after it was shut down before it was finally demolished. Nobody's forcing anybody to go. Nobody's forcing anybody to bring their children if they do go. It's like going into a strip club and being offended that there are topless women.

@@LinksBetweenDrinks I get the point you're trying to make, but here's the thing... Who _would_ go?

Chuck E. Cheese is my childhood. I've never felt such happiness in all my childhood then when having fun at Chuck E. Cheese with my family. It's an experience like no other. 🍕

It is shame that a restaurant would be shut down. They had the potential to be good. But they were inept of handling their own restaurants.

Doesn't help that the guy who runs the Heart Attack Cafe acts so creepily psychotic.

Hey phantomstrider there was once a chuck e cheese in Australia but it was called Charlie cheese's pizza playhouse it was at Grundy's for the 80's then relocated in the late 80's then closed in the early/mid 90's but the animatronics we're saved there in a warehouse in Australia.

Chi-Chi's would be another great entry if you make a Part 2 of this video (which I'd love to see)! It was a Mexican franchise restaurant that basically folded up in the early 2000s after there was a Hepatitis A outbreak caused by a Pennsylvania location, the largest in US History, apparently. Some people even died, sadly. The name lives on in their grocery store items, but the restaurant itself is no more. Thanks for all the great videos, PhantomStrider! I look forward to them every time!

John Basso really went through a whole supervillain arc as a former nutritionist that became upset at people cheating on their diets and his failing workout industry stint, that he decided a restaurant based around serving unhealthy food to kill their customers for eating it so much was an amazing idea. Oh and the sexual harassment lawsuits don't help either.

I remember first seeing the Heart Attack Grill on the Travel Channel on "Extreme Pig Outs" from like 2008. It is insane it is still around to this day.

Jeez, the Heart Attack Grill doesn't really hide any of its controversies, judging by the _name_ alone. And from what I'm seeing in the footage, the waitresses are dressed in skimpy nurse outfits, showing cleavage quite clearly. And they spank naughty customers too? I guess the restaurant runs not only on being as unhealthy as possible, but ALSO on sex appeal and fetishes, perhaps even more blatantly than Hooters.

Jeebus, I wish this restaurant is shut down soon. It looks so gross and inappropriate behaviour like this should be taken to court and hopefully shut down sooner than later. I will hate to even eat there. I rather eat at a Bosnian restaurant over this anyday.🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤬🤬🤬🤬

During the pandemic, I decided to order Chuck E. Cheese because I was passing by one. It had these hand-made posters offering a lot of food for cheap. I was suspicious of it but I said screw it. Called and they sounded desperate. They sound gleeful that I wanted to order some pizza and tried to get me to buy more. I went to pick up and saw stacks of pizza boxes and small toys for sale. The depressing atmosphere and the decay of my childhood that I had to accept with my pizza and wings.
You forgot the part about Chuck E. Cheese where they ran a successful delivery business under another name out of the same kitchens during the pandemic

I was living in Arizona (like an hour away from where the restaurant was) when the Amy's Baking Company episode of Kitchen Nightmares came out and surprisingly it made local news and it became a meme among me and my friend group in middle school

There was an amazing buffet called Sweet Tomatoes that my family would go to for birthdays. In 2020, every restaurant in the nation permanently closed because they didn't have enough money to survive the pandemic. I know how you feel, Strider.
