Pro-Atletes are overpaid? Think of it like this... You never hear about an actor or musicians being overpaid, yet Athletes, Muscians, and Actors are all paid a hefty amount for entertainment, but which of the three has a 90% chance of getting seriously injured?
@kevinpatterson41368 жыл бұрын
Gee, where to begin with this ridiculous list. 10. Yes, a good percentage of Athletes are in fact overpaid. No one needs $20mil a year to play a game. 9. Yes, soccer is in fact quite boring. There is nothing exciting about watching a bunch of grown men run around for 2 hours and failing to score. 8. Guy starts a streak of games because another guy didn't play.... no myth involved, thus irrelevant. 7. No one in their right mind thinks that ALL MLB stars use steroids, so again, no myth to be debunked. 6. This isn't a myth and I've NEVER heard anyone say that NFL players shouldn't wear helmets, so again, something that was just pulled out of someone's butt to throw in a video. 5. Not much to say on this one, because it's not a myth, its just something stupid people say. 4. Again, nothing about a myth, just people's opinion on the man. 3. At last, an actual myth that's out there.... 2. Whoa, another myth, but I don't know anything about it 1. Some athletes are in fact good role models. Easiest example, Vinny Lecavalier. So, since you wasted my time with what ended up being a complete and utter waste of time, I felt that I should leave my two cents (as well as a thumbs down) on what was a misleading piece of drivel.
@TheEWFX295 жыл бұрын
On 8 you must be to young to have heard the Wally Pipp story of how Lou Gehrig got the job. Probably of all the stories here that is the oldest and most believed myth. It's just not a modern one. I'm 51 and I have heard the story about Pipp taking a day off for a sickness and Gehrig taking his place after that. Might or might not be true but all baseball fans have heard that story and for the most part believed it and put it into the great baseball stories from the past. You might have points on the others but this is definitely a myth and a great one for the game, true or not.

FIFA20MUFC Baseball is an acquired taste. In football, the times where they're playing is all action, as opposed to some of the dry parts in soccer.
@XxtherealnussbaumxX8 жыл бұрын
Watching a game for 100 minutes is impossible. Either 90 minutes or 120(+penalties). In soccer it's not just bout scoring.Because it's a dynamic sport you have 90 minutes of action and in most cases tension and that's it. I'm a huge football fan but what pisses me if that nfl games have 30 minutes less playing time but still last more than twice as long as a soccer game.
@JohnDoe-uu9gh8 жыл бұрын
XxtherealnussbaumxX 100 minutes is the 90 minutes + 5 minutes of stoppage per half.

3:43 actually, while wearing a helmet prevents short-term injuries, it causes more long-term damage. If you dont believe me, slap yourself on top of your head, then keep that hand on the top of the head, then slap your hand thats on top of your head with the same amount of force you did to your "naked" head. You will notice it hurts more with the hand on top of the head. Same basic principle applies to a helmet. Not only that, but you can use a helmet as a weapon. It essentially becomes a bowling ball. If you watch any old highlight reels you see that everybody leads with their head to tackle the runner

Athletes aren't really overpaid? That's priceless. Cause nobody else has to pay taxes, nobody else has to work a job that keeps them away from their families most of the time, and nobody else has a job that may be dangerous at times. Only pro athletes are subject to these extreme conditions.

He hadn't played baseball since high school, played the season at AA, in which his second half numbers where not that bad, then hit .252 in the AFL, against the top prospects in baseball. Go ahead and try to just pick up baseball in your 30's while playing against legitimate prospects who have played the game their entire life. Ruth was one of the greatest hitters of all time but he was also one of the top pitchers too. He broke most records before they were even known as records. His name and exploits made baseball the game it is today. Griffey was a great player but his offensive numbers don't rival Ruths so the pitching stats are a further divider between the two. Ruth is by far the Greatest of all time.

My own suggestions by sport: 1. NBA MYTH: MICHAEL JORDAN WON MANY CHAMPIONSHIPS BECAUSE HE PLAYED ON A STACKED TEAM Actually, he did not. He played with Scottie Pippen and later Dennis Rodman, but if you compare the line-up of his teams with those of other all-time greats and multiple champions like Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and others, you could clearly see that Jordan's supporting cast was actually NOT that good. Those other legends often played with fellow All-Pros and multiple All-Stars on the same team, sometimes even fellow MVPs. Many of the champion NBA teams from the 1950's to 1980's had line-ups where EVERY SINGLE STARTER was an All-Star at one time or another. That was not the case with the Bulls. 2. NHL MYTH: ALL THE GREAT PLAYERS IN THE NHL ARE CANADIAN OR EUROPEAN About 2/3 of all NHL players are Canadian, but about 1 of 6 are US-born. Count all the American players and they're almost as many as all the players of different European nationalities combined. To cite just 1 example of a great US player, Jonathan Quick is one of the best goaltenders around. (ESPN also has a myth about hockey: "THE NHL EXISTS" - but that's a different story) [TBC]
@Milordvega8 жыл бұрын
[CONTINUED] 3. NFL MYTH 1: MOST RETIRED NFL PLAYERS LIVE MISERABLE LIVES The media has been reporting a lot of instances of former NFL players who go bankrupt or commit crimes and serve jail time, or even commit suicide, or otherwise suffer from all sorts of physical ailments and die young. Someone can check the facts and see if retired NFL players really get into more trouble than other retirees in other professions. A LOT of retired NFL players seem to be doing OK. MYTH 2: YOU HAVE TO BE MASSIVE TO PLAY IN THE NFL Even not counting placekickers, a lot of NFL stars (especially wide receivers) actually have the slim, toned bodies of track athletes or NBA players. And there are a good number of NFL players (especially running backs) who are in the 5'6" to 5'8" range in height. 4. MLB MYTH: THE NEW YORK YANKEES ARE THE EVIL EMPIRE OF MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL This was true in previous decades, from the 1920's all the way to the 1990's, but the NY Yankees of the past 15 years have hardly dominated the baseball scene. They've only won one World Series (2009) in the past 16 years, and aren't even making the postseason regularly anymore. Also, if the accusation is that the Yankees have a massive payroll and so this is the reason for their success, other teams like the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers also have players who are paid very, very well. [TBC]
@Milordvega8 жыл бұрын
[CONTINUED] 5. SOCCER MYTH 1: SOCCER IS NOT POPULAR IN THE USA Perhaps the professional league (MLS) is not yet quite at the same standards of popularity as the Big Four of professional sports leagues (mentioned above) but there is a LOT of soccer being played everywhere, and go to sports pubs and they often play soccer matches. It's just that many US fans would still prefer to watch leagues like the Premier League or La Liga or Liga MX or Serie A than their own domestic leagues. But the sport is certainly mainstream in the US in a way it was not decades ago. A keen US sports fan has certainly heard of the best players (Messi, Cristiano, Ibra, etc.) playing abroad. MYTH 2: THE BEST PLAYERS ONLY PLAY IN EUROPE Perhaps they play the prime of their careers in Europe, but check MLS line-ups and see all the legends (Lampard, Gerrard, Pirlo, Villa, Kaka, etc.) playing in the domestic North American soccer league. It wasn't just David Beckham. And even in the 1970's to early 80's, all-time greats like Pele and Beckenbauer and George Best and Johan Cryuff had stints playing in the NASL. xxxxxxx You have great videos! Keep it up!
