I sold my G2 recently. I never saw its 12mp as a limitation. My Canon G9, iPhone, Nikon D700: all 12mp. Big enough to,print, but still small file size. Good video.

I have a G2 and I love it. I bought it about a year ago. I think I spent around $80USD with the olympus 40-150mm lens. I sold the lens for $60, so, I technically got the camera for $20USD. I haven't used it as much due to my other cameras, but I want to use it more

I've had my G5 since it was new and it's a keeper. Lovely cuddly metal body, the G6 though was tacky plastic and replaced asap with the G7. The G5 was not my first MFT, that was the E-PL1. The G5 takes perfectly good photos although they can look a bit fuzzy on the low-res monitor and LVF. This can make MF a bit hit or miss, it does not have focus-peaking. G1, G10, G2, G3, there was no G4, G5, ...

I have used a variety of digital cameras throughout this century, and have been pleased with most. I had been using a DSLR since 2012, but found it awkward, particularly on the street or at conferences, church gatherings etc. I also had a couple of Nikon 1 cameras, and found that not only did they work quite adequately under ordinary night time lighting in shopping centres and recreational spots, but I could fit the camera and lenses equivalent to 28-80 and 80-300 in my two jacket pockets. And 10 MP was certainly more than adequate as long as I didn't want to do an extreme crop. After all, we did OK with 3 or 5 MP for years. I have recently moved to MFT and though the GX8 isn't really pocketable, it can certainly hang around my neck with the long telephoto in a shirt pocket. It's hard to see too many downsides if you are not a National Geographic photographic explorer or a photojournalist specialising in rock concerts.

I was looking for buying a lumix 14 42 and ended finding a G2 + 14 42 cheaper than the lens alone. At first I was like “ok, a free camera sounds pretty good” and when I got my hand on it I was really surprised with the image quality, specially in good lighting. Really fun to use this camera

My go to pocket camera is the Lumix GX85 which is only 16mp. But 12mp is still plenty even in 2024. My day job is shooting real estate drone photography and I've chosen to use the DJI mini 3 because it's tiny, quite and doesn't draw too much attention. It's only 12mp and clients have never had an issue. They're printing huge signs with these shots. The drone actually has a 48mp pixel-shift mode and the one time I used it my clients said, "hey, these files are way too big." Lesson learned.

I'm reversing in gear dramatically... I found me doing x4 times more photos, and having more fun, and interesting results, with a simple lumix TZ or FX on the pocket instead of the mirrorless... also in some ambients with dust, to much humidity, too much sun, easy falling... because you don't need to think to much on having care of the gear, and for me thats a lot of stress down. Also you don't have to care too much on the technical perfection and focus, because it doesn't achieve that anyways xDD

This video sums up my feelings on the Olympus EM5 Mark II (That I got for $150 due to a small issue with the EVF), as that camera fills the same niche for me. I have a few modern Mirrorless cameras (The Nikon Z5 and Z50 along with the Panasonic G9) but the Olympus E-M5 is my go to small and fun camera when I just want to go out and shoot and get some nice clean photos without a lot of thought and not pixel peeping for perfection.

G2 was my first Digital ILC, I got it for a sale price on Tesco website. Felt so so good in the hand. The materials it is made from and the useful dials. I used it with vintage manual lenses too. I still use a G5 when travelling for the lightness and ease of use. The G2 has better dials buttons, material and ergonomics though. Great camera.

Panasonic is awesome! They have definitely earned my respect. Panasonic listens to what people tell them and implements it. Their cameras aren't ridiculously priced, and Panasonic adds new features to their cameras instead of compromising. While Sony cameras are compelling, Panasonic is my first choice, only then followed by Sony. Yes, there are other popular digital camera manufacturers out there, but they aren't doing anything exciting like Panasonic! The only Canon camera I've looked at is the XF605 camcorder, but my Panasonic X1500 camcorder has all the main features for two and a half times cheaper!

I am currently shooting on an old Pentax K DSLR from before 2010. I love the camera but it real heavy, doesnt have optical stabilization and so on, struggles in low light with a sensitivit of max 1600. Being DSLR you rarerly have the comfort of getting a well exposed photo on the move from the first time. And the resolution is not that big, given the numbers today. I think it is either 12MP or 16MP.

If you want the best look in your studio (like both of the shots were) do it with lights, no amount of DR will fix lack of good lighting, in fact, your modern studio shot proves in can result in worse results if not dealt with it properly. I’m sorry I don’t want to be mean, just look again at your modern studio headshot, where are the shadows, where is the definition, where is the emphasis on what our eyes should be drawn ? Wait wait wait. What was that small full frame? RX1R? Because I am still dealing with just the tiniest bit of doubt floating through my head. I've got a Fuji X-T5, and that's APS-C and 40mp. I've got the Ricoh GRIIIx for my pocket snapper. Clearly a swell rig. BUT, My two debates: should I go FF like ..I dunno, a Nikon Zf? I'm a hobby boy. I >do< shoot some low light/indoor event stuff, but few and far between (and I have the add-on flash for my X-T5). With the 40mp, I'm using the extra for cropping. (Boy, do I crop.) On the "pocket snapper," the only thing at ALL (besides not weather proof) that I don't like about the GRIIIx is no zoom. And that's what always gets me sniffing around your and Emily's posts. I think, "If only, I could have one of those baby m43 zooms, THEN, life would be magical." I clearly have two great, maybe even sought-after cameras. Should I shut up? Or is there any world where I should think about swapping those two?

Love the size. It typically underexposes and I figh with the exposure controls to correct this. Marvelous B&W settings. Very contrasty and deep blacks. Still trying to get use to no EVF.
