My problem with ranking Bill Russel so high is that he won his championships in a league that had between 8-14 teams during this 11 rings. It was so much easier to win back then, his 11 rings would probably be worth like 3 modern ones. Yet no one talks about this.

My top 5 most skilled players ever: Pistol Pete: There are things that he did on the court with the ball that players today still can’t do. His ball handling, passing, and shooting was absolutely phenomenal and he dedicated his entire life to the game and did it all without a three point line. Averaged over 30 points for the hawks and still has the scoring record for college which will literally never be beat🔥🔫 Larry Bird: This guy could barely jump an inch off the ground and he still averaged 10 rebounds a game for his entire career. Won three 3 point contests and one of the most underrated passers and facilitators of all time. Only player ever to average 24/10/6. Hit a game winner over MJ and Scottie with a hurt back! This man was COLD 🥶 🦅 MJ: This man shows the difference between talented and skilled. He always had talent but had to develop his skillset overtime because he kept losing to the Celtics, pistons, and rockets. Once he mastered his craft and became the most skillful player in the game people feared him and he ended up three peating twice. The greatest two way player of all time. Showed off his skills multiple different ways by winning multiple different titles and people were generally afraid of being on the court with him. Averaged 30 points a game his entire career and would of been on 50% shooting if he didn’t join the wizards. Mid range was flawless and unstoppable 👌 Kobe: Nobody mirrored MJ the way Kobe did. He could score from anywhere on the court and his handles and passing skills were incredibly remarkable. Go look earlier in his career and you will see all kinds of no look passes, through the legs, 360 dunks, fake outs, ankle breakers, etc… Kobe had it all and almost three peated twice just like Jordan if it wasn’t for the 2008 loss to the Celtics. Mamba was feared for a reason 🐍 Kareem: The Sky Hook is the most skillful shot in the history of basketball and Kareem was the only one to master it fully. Nobody can stop it. He could do it with both hands from both sides of the key and even 20 feet out. Had the leading scoring record for nearly 40 years and he mainly used one single shot to make it happen. When people know what you are going to do and still can’t do anything to stop it that’s when you know you are skilled 🥽 🏀

Also what hurts Kareem is that Magic Johnson was clearly the best, most valuable player on that Lakers team in the 80s. They could win without Kareem when he was out of the lineup. They couldn't win without Magic. Bill Russell has the best case against Jordan. He wasn't just the best defender of all time. He was far superior to anyone else, analytically or otherwise... not that that stuff means too much to me. His overall value is underrated, amazingly, if anything. Alot of people don't realize he was even a player/coach for 2 of the rings. And almost automatic in elimination games to play his best. And with less teams in the league, the talent is more condensed. He did a lot of that matching up with Wilt 15 times or so per season, and 7 more in the playoffs. And of course 11 rings including 8 in a row. Don't get it wrong. His case is the strongest against MJ. Though even then I can't put him there.

Gasol should be grateful to make the top 100; his achievements came in a decade where excellent centers were mostly absent, allowing a moderately skilled 7'1'' player to look better. Bosh was both a better 5 (particularly as a stretch 5, a position Erik Spoelstra created for him) and a better PF. Bosh was one of the greatest 2-way players ever. He changed how teams play defense.

@@Ibrahem_azez I believe there aren’t much excuses for Wilt in the playoffs after 1966, since he had the better teams; and yes, scored low+underperformed, but when you go from 50 to 35, it’s a big drop off however it’s still 35. I don’t think Wilt ever underperformed before 1966, for example in 1962 Wilt scored 22 points in game 7 vs Boston, but little do most know that Wilt was told to focus more on defense instead of offense, and when needed to score he scored the next 5 straight points for Philly to tie the game, until Sam Jones hit a clutch shot. A lot of these losses in his early years aren’t necessarily because of him.

Moncrief was the most glaring snub. He's on par with GP as a 2 way guard. No way LeBron, a guy who quits on his teams, pouts at the end of the bench in a finals game, makes up injury excuses, and shies away from taking the big shots is ahead of a guy like Bird, let alone #2 all time. Longevity is his only argument. Even in 2016 it was Kyrie down the stretch, hitting the big shots. Or Ray Allen. Then a covid championship is practically 1/2 a ring... and Unibrow, was probably the best player on that team even. LeBron was great don't get me wrong, but in the 7-11 range. You can tell your "research" consists more of stat compiling than actually seeing these guys with your own eyes in real time. Perhaps you're young. Even Shaq admits you can't put him above Dream. Barkley was also a better PF than Malone... saw it with my own eyes, at their best. Havlicek over guys like Dr J is absurd. Still I enjoyed watching it.

When I think of the best players in NBA history, I go with team and team composition. A bit different than most, but I think since it's a team sport it's probably more appropriate. Starting Five: PG: Magic Johnson SG: Michael Jordan SF: Larry Bird PF: Hakeem Olajuwon C: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Combination of dominant post work and defense, interior passing, perimeter shooting, and an ability by all players to move and play without the ball make this the best combination I believe. I do not have LeBron in my starting 5 because he is so ball-dominant that unless he's surrounded by elite shooters that will wait on the wings for him to pass them the ball, his effectiveness is significantly diminished. Bird has nearly as many defensive accolades and is a far superior rebounder and shooter, and can pass as effectively without dominating the ball like LeBron does. I don't have Wilt or Russell in my top 5 because I believe they both are two halves of the whole that Kareem put together. Dominant offense with dominant defense. And I have Hakeem because I believe he's got the best post footwork of all time, plus he was an absolute defensive monster. He was also the only all time great to win a title without a top 75 player next to him (1993-1994) other than Kobe Bryant (2008-2010) if I recall correctly.

Too many positions I don't agree, Mikan can't be that low to me, but the difference is that I respect a lot players in the pre 24 secon clock, other than that I don't agree on putting current players in this list as their career is not over, maybe I can agree only on LeBron as he is 40 now, but Kyrie, Steph, KD etc have some years or maybe even many more years to go so putting them on a top 100 list is pointless to me
@h.s936 Жыл бұрын
Isiah Stockton Drexler should be higher

It is not right to place Klay Thomas beyond Vince Carter. You should take a look to VC's career total points and games played. I am sick for over~ratings 3 point shooters even some of them are without any dominant career records, MVP or champ in these days.

My only big issue is that you put Curry and Durant lower than Shaq. I mean c'mon... the first two are offensive and shooting juggernauts, among the best of all time, who can also play defense and have an insane basketball iq. Shaq was just an unstoppable force inside the paint. That's the only part of the game that he an claim to be a goat candidate. Not only he wasn't a good shooter, he couldn't even make free throws! and you have him over Steph and KD?! Hell, now that I m thinking it, I m not sure if he deserves to be above Hakeem Olajuwon...
@arismaiden64572 ай бұрын
Also don't know why you put so high players like Cousy and Petit. Blacks couldn't play before the 60s, so...

I emphatically disagree with Kobe ranked at #7 it’s not 7 players who ever lived better than Kobe Bean FN Bryant. However, great content.
@davidrobertson43883 ай бұрын
Seven is actually to high for Kobe. He played in mega market LA his whole career. That is easy mode in the NBA. He’s have so much less success if he played for a small market. I remember one season he didn’t have a stacked team and he missed the playoffs.

@hogg42293 ай бұрын
That’s about right. You going to start him at SG over Mike? If not he isn’t higher than 6
@kidwatson42403 ай бұрын
I’m a basketball fanatic, I love the game more than players. So it’s not necessarily a Kobe campaign for me, it’s just in all my years of watching basketball, studying the game, being a hooper myself, watching games from the sidelines. I’ve never seen a player more skilled than Kobe Bryant, I saw the end of Jordan on tv. I’ve seen Lebron play live 4 times in person. Wade, KD and Russ, None of them are Kobe from a pure basketball skill Stand point, on offense or defense. So if Kobe is too high at 7 in y’all opinion, Lebron is waaaay to high at 2 in my Opinion for obvious reasons that I won’t go into because Lebron my second favorite player ever.

You should check out self researched NBA facts. LeBron James has had way too many losses to be ranked so high Jerry West loss 4 game 7s in the finals an has 1 championship and still has an identical 22-33 finals record as LeBron this proves West was doing better on the biggest stage than LeBron. Jordan Russell Magic Jabbar Bryant Bird West Olajuwon Chamberlain Duncan top 10 all-time players. LeBron James is in the Oscar Robertson Shaquille O'Neal Wilt Chamberlain tier if he is top 10 he's around 8-10 not anything higher than 8. No way especially when these other guys actually played defense.
