Honestly when I first watched the first couple episodes I was like “this is cringy” but it gets a lot better and way more complex and kinda dark. Great show! And even in those first couple episodes it’s still so intriguing!

I’m going to echo what a lot of others have already said- the beginning of this season starts out a little cheesy but it gets SO much better! There is such incredible character development in this series and the moral grayness that is the overarching theme (would you do anything it takes to survive?) and the ambiguity of identifying who is a ‘bad’ guy kept me hooked each season. As the series progresses, you’ll see that it’s definitely not the teen show that the early episodes suggest. Hope you continue!

First season 2014, 7th Season 2020. I really enjoyed reconnecting to when this series started. I will not throw out spoilers, but I do not think you will be spoiled by my saying, "You're in for a ride, if you follow this series through" Included in this episode, Clarke's father (Abbie's husband) learned of the fact the Ark wouldn't be able to sustain the people for another hundred years, and wanted to tell the people. The Council (which is headed by the Chancellor) disagreed. Caine was a friend of Abbie's huband/Clarke's father, and chose to press charges against him when he defied The Council and tried to get the word out, and Caine (according to Abbie) chose to drag Clarke into those charges, which is why Clarke was incarcerated. This is why Clarke knows the Ark is dying. When the Chancellor was incapacitated, Caine became Chancellor Pro-Tempore [acting Chancellor] and chose to bring the charges against Abbie for exceeding the medical supply allotment for a single patient (The Chancellor), which in turn meant she would be "floated" (put out an airlock), but only with the Chancellor recovering enough to intervene, Caine was then faced with Chancellor Jaha overturning the charge with a pardon (presumably only the Chancellor can issue a pardon), and telling Caine "I'll deal with you later."
