Hill is not beating Lyles, no matter what. I keep seeing NFL fans try to bring up Hill's high school years as evidence, but Hill isn't in high school anymore, he's 30 and decided to focus on football instead of track. Even as an adult, Hill's 60m time was 6.70s in 2023. You know what Noah ran in 2023? 6.51s. And Noah improved his start and most recently ran 6.43s at the World Indoor Championships this year. It's almost an annual reminder to football fans that football speed is nowhere near track speed.

Yeah it’s a lot of dumb arguments, but you can’t blame Hill for saying he can beat him it’s in his competitive nature. Sure he would get smoked but I can respect the confidence. Same way Noah said he was going to destroy them folks in the 200 and got smoked like a cigarette. Gotta always have the confidence in yourself.

The problem is that Noah has taken up the very bad habit of taking shots at people who haven't said or done anything to him. When you attack the whole NBA unprovoked and talk down to your opponents about how they'll be "depressed" when they see you come off the turn, you are setting the bar VERY high for yourself because now people want payback. It seems like Noah, in his quest to replace Usain Bolt in the public eye, forgot the most important part. As this video points out, during his prime, Bolt basically didn't lose. Ever! Noah should have realized that by running his mouth so much, he put himself in a position where he HAD to win those events. Coming up short in the 200 again (regardless of excuses) is not an option when you have exhibited such poor sportsmanship in the runup to the games. Funny thing is that Bolt never disrespected anybody and the attention he got was due to his unbelievable ability, not running his mouth.

Noah lyles ain't trying to be usain bolt or anyone else than himself. He's gone on record several times to say you have to be you in this sport. If you're trying to be anyone else, it won't be authentic. Bolt even told him to keep doing what you're doing. Bolt was never a disrespectful talker, but you can't tell me he didn't have a bit of cocky swagger to him, and that's what made it so savage. Even when Gatlin was having that great year in 2015, Bolt's presence was so powerful he made his opponents make mistakes. For lyles, i think he just says that stuff because that's just how he gets mentally ready to compete. If everyone is nice and respectful to each other, you lose an element of entertainment to all of this 🤷‍♂️

@@supablitz Yes it most certainly was unprovoked. What exactly did any NBA player say about Noah Lyles? What did any NBA player say about track and field? Noah just tried to pick a fight and maybe really only to get attention. To call out the NBA specifically makes no sense at all because it is a common practice among all major American sports leagues to call their title a world championship (World Series, etc.). It's kind of silly but taking shots at the NBA specifically does not make sense.

I like to think of it as a triangle. On one point is ability On the second is achievement On the third is likability. The more area of that triangle is filled, the more trash they can talk and get away with it. For the first point, Noah has the mostly reached the ability point. He’s not the fastest man in history, but he’s also an elite talent who’s clearly capable of great times. 9/10 For the second, he has the accolades…just. He’s at the start of his career, and has only won 2 individual events in the highest level senior competitions. The gold medal goes a long way in the 100, but it also nothing compared to the level of dominance of bolt and others. 6/10 And third, likability. And man Noah fails at this one. He’s just not the kinda guy who’s easy to root for. He comes across as cocky, arrogant, and whiny. In the biggest stage of his life, after drawing huge amounts of attention to himself, he fails to win the 200m, and then immediately makes excuses which don’t seem to add up to his behaviour immediately prior. Regardless of if they’re true or not, it’s not a good look. 2/10 So that all adds up to not a lot of trash should be spoken. And yet Lyles has made a habit of doing so. He can continue all he likes, but unless something changes in points 2 and 3, he’s always going to be mocked

If the men's 100m at the Olympics is the prestige event why did so many track and field fans spend 4 years running Lamont Marcell Jacobs down? Lyles himself even said he was the world's fastest man after he won 2023 Worlds, giving Jacobs no credit for being the reigning Olympic champion. Lyles literally won the 100m in Paris by the breadth of his singlet, 0.005 separated him from Kishane Thompson. His 3rd place in the 200m was supposedly due to Covid, but why post a covid-negative test and not the positive one when everyone was asking why he under-performed? And the footage of him dancing the night away 2 days later makes me seriously doubt the whole story. That's not even mentioning his withdrawal from the men's 4x100m, and we know how that ended for team USA. I wonder how they'll spin his Olympic performances in Sprint2.

@MC-vd8cw Yes, it does. And I don't understand your point of it being a German company. It's a global athletics company and literally just gave Anthony Edward's (An American men!) a shoe deal. What are you even talking about?
@MC-vd8cw
@MC-vd8cw 22 күн бұрын
American Athletes are some of the highest paid in the world because they bring in some of the highest viewership on the world. It’s not just cuz they’re American. Track and field is still a very niche sport that most people don’t pay attention to outside of the Olympics. So what’s the return for adidas if they give him a shoe deal that’s comparable to the NBA? Most people who buy running shoes are casual runners they don’t care about Noah if anything they pay more attention to the long distance runners. So you’re saying give him a shoe deal cuz he got one gold medal and he’s American. Nah bro you gotta go out there and be the next bolt and break records or come back with 4 gold medals then you go to adidas and say you’re the Jordan of track and have global appeal, and you doing things we’ve never seen done before. Then you have a case. One gold medal and the American flag aren’t going to cut it.

The name Dellavedova would be accented as DellaVEdova. Likely he is descended from immigrants and is 100% Australian, with a cognome finito con una vocale grazie al suo oriundo dello stivale. He probably says it wrong himself. Vedova (first syllable accented) means widow, and it's preceded by the prepositional phrase "della" which means "of the." There is an account in the Bible called "the widow's mite" at the beginning of Luke 21. The Italian translation of that summary is "L'offerta della vedova." When announcers called him "DellaveDOva" I grit my denti.

I never implied that nobody buys running shoes. And I definitely did not imply that a signature deal wouldn't work for return on investment. What I said and meant was that direct athlete sponsorships do not translate into sales. Especially if they are blackout, no mention contracts. And especially if the audience isn't shoe/apparel buyers. A signature shoe, especially a trainer/jogger, would be great. A sneaker? For track sponsorship, though, I am not sure I even understand the audience that would be pointed at... you can't bring new people into the fold if there is no cohesive fold to bring people into... you have to build the house first before you can invite guests. Make the athletes and fans that already exist whole first. Give the people already here a community they can be proud of evolving along with. Then, and only then, can you ask others to be excited about joining in on that...

All the individual fracturing exudes itself in the format. That carries over to the audience, which then has to understand why. Which usually means other track athletes. What if the entire finals line up got Covid and Marcel Jacob’s won with a time of 11.5. Would we all proclaim that he is the fastest man on earth? Sorry but you are misinformed about people not recognising or watching the athletics world championships, maybe in the USA 🇺🇸 people are not bothered about about them but certainly here in the United Kingdom we are, they are televised and usually live not recorded. Being second in any competition is not nowhere, it is not just about the winning in sports (except when there is millions of dollars at stake) but these athletes don’t train and compete for 3+ years just to get to the Olympic Games and not win, of course they don’t, but winning the silver or bronze medals is a huge achievement in its own right, even getting to the games is a triumph in its own right, and belittling that just goes to show how ill informed about what really matters to athletes, of course winning is the ultimate achievement but it is not the only achievement, and I think you will find that the competitors at the Para Olympics are even more ecstatic to be competing than able bodied athletes, they might not win but they are about more than winning, they have overcome more obstacles just to get there than any other competitors that are able bodied. You have done yourself a disservice by saying what you did about second place, maybe that is the American mentality but it is not for the vast majority of people in the world, winning is NOT EVERYTHING. 😡🤬🤯😫😖😣☹️🙁😕😟😔😞👎🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇺🇸🇺🇦

Thank you for your comment, I really appreciate the perspective. As a track fan I love the stories of all the talented athletes in the field. However, casual American track fans do not show much interest in athletes who don't win gold medals at the highest level. And the Olympics are almost the only time most potential fans watch the sport. I wish it were not so, and have great respect for other nations that support their track and field athletes across the board. There are Americans who share this sentiment. But unfortunately they are in the minority. I am American, and I do agree winning is not everything. But it is all that many people seem interested in giving any attention to unfortunately in this culture.

Is there any reason you failed to mention his antics after he lost? He clearly seemed more than energetic before the race. He even hugged the winner “Tobago” right after the race. Noah is not likable. I dot see anyone wearing his shoes. But… you are absolutely right. He is the fastest man and nobody can take that away from him. I guess what people are saying is …. Be humble… especially after losing.

those assumption youre making are far fetched, it makes little sense why everyone thinks noah was putting up some "antics"
