Very good looking. Especially the front facia that no longer looks like it was designed by a committee. Like many others I'm no fan of CVTs but I understand that the target market for the Civic sedan prioritizes fuel economy and purchase price over my preferences. All in all, as Alex notes, it great to see Honda continuing to commit to sedans.

This interior design is truly a game changer for Honda. This is the first time since the late 80s Honda’s that the interior has a very distinct character. Back then it had a lot of interior design cohesiveness derived from the NSX. Since back then this is first design that is very distinguished with its low dash cowl and unique vents. If they build the Honda brand with similar interior style for all future models then they have a home run. They just need to differentiate models with materials quality and higher tech in more expensive models.

Hey Alex, one thing I think could be very revealing in these reviews is rear seat FOOT room. There's nothing more refreshing than a sedan you can easily swing your feet into, and nothing more annoying than having to maneuver and snake your feet in through the door /in front of the rear seat /behind the front seat. Sure, your legs will usually have breathing room...but was it a chore to even get your legs /feet in and out?

Honda is smart enough to know what was once in fashion then drops out of fashion comes back around eventually. Younger zoomers will be driving soon, and some won't want to drive the same crossovers/suv's as their parents and grandparents. Also, unlike GM, VW and maybe Ford, they arent going all in on EV's just yet, they are also smart enough to know such things not only arent yet practical for many North Americans, but lots of other markets around the world as well. Love the Accord like styling (without the odd void in front) of the new Civic...and when I have to really think about something I dont like about the interior, that means Honda nailed that as well. This is not any different marketing wise than calling the highlander an suv when its a minivan without sliding doors or the outback being a lifted wagon. In case anyone interested, it looks like Alex drove this Honda in Huntington Beach , California .

They made the trunk smaller and the interior center storage space less practical but pretty much improved everything else. The rear end is very bland now as well unfortunately.

For the love of God, can I get a mainstream compact sedan without a CVT?
@federaikkonerer
@federaikkonerer 3 жыл бұрын
I agree. It seems like Honda isn't listening to their fans. They should make their Si a Wet Dual-Clutch Transmission. The only mainstream compact sedan I know of without CVT is the Kia Forte GT with 201HP. It has dual clutch transmission and it sounds amazing! I drove it and smokes the Civic and Corolla.

Why don't you like Honda CVTs? Manual enthusiast reviewers like TheTopher have no complaints. The tuning is responsive, there aren't any reliability issues, and it gets good MPG. That's exactly what you want from an economy car.

@@faeinthebay LOL those reviewers are probably paid by the mfrs to say they like it. lol No manual transmission in the base model civic either...deal breaker for me.
@faeinthebay
@faeinthebay 3 жыл бұрын
@@watershed44 that's unlikely because paying off such a large body of car viewers gets quite expensive, and reviewers that only use viewer cars (like most TST reviews) don't have a relationship with manufacturers where they could be bribed. Plus there are publications like Car and Driver that are large enough to have leverage over the manufacturers instead of the other way around.

Bring back traditional gauges.
@faeinthebay
@faeinthebay 3 жыл бұрын
It looks like you can get pretty close to that with the circular gauge display. And the lower trims are half analog. But the Civic has never cared about the sanctity of analog gauges, remember the 8th gen had a 2 tier cluster with the top being digital. I loved it, it was almost as good as a HUD.

Alex, has Honda fully addressed the oil dilution problem in the 1.5L turbo engine for this new civic?
@philippluklas

Also curious
@AAutoBuyersGuide
@AAutoBuyersGuide 3 жыл бұрын
Its not a terribly common problem, it effected mainly vehicles in cold climates where the engine never got up to full operating temperature (some exceptions of course). Honda produces around a million 1.5L turbos a year, if it were a pervasive problem we would know by now.
@philippluklas
@philippluklas 3 жыл бұрын
@@AAutoBuyersGuide it’s not like people would notice within a couple years, but if the oil gets diluted, it will definitely decrease lifetime of the engine. Hm, hard to know if it’s actually fixed or not
