Great video (as always)!! My pet peeves: 1. No back-up lights on our trailer!!! We have break lights but why no back-up lights?? It’s mandatory on a car, would cost $5 to install. So why?? 2. Oh, another massive pet peeve of mine is placing the stove directly next to the TV with nothing inbetween, like a small pantry or something. Grease goes further than people think it does, and so I hate when they place the stove close enough to the TV that grease ends up on the TV itself. I hate when they do this. And don't get me started on the neck-breaker arrangement of the couch and TV instead of facing each other.
@Five2Go2 жыл бұрын
If you go back and watch older tour videos from previous shows you'll see that we call that arrangement a "stupid TV" - no one wants to sit on a couch and turn their head 90 degrees to watch TV 🤣 That layout immediately makes us walk out of an RV regardless of how nice everything else is.

I agree about mattresses. Just because you can't please everyone, doesn't mean you should displease everyone. They put the cheapest possible mattress in that will be comfortable for nobody weighing over 40 pounds. If they spent a couple hundred bucks extra, maybe only 60% of people would immediately put it in the landfill and replace it. Alternately, don't put a matress in at all. Then everyone knows they need to go buy their favorite mattress.
@Five2Go2 жыл бұрын
I'm kind of on board with the "no mattress" idea, but there's already a super long list of items you need to buy with any new RV (all the water, power, and sewer stuff, leveling stuff, stuff stuff, etc) that "bring your own mattress" might be a bit too far 😂

Great idea for a video! All the pet peeves were spot on! It is SO true that most of the people who build rv's, sell rv's, or accommodate rv's are CLUELESS about living in one. They are so surprised when they learn about how many people live full-time in their rv's...even with kids they homeschool! (Say what?!? ) Haha! Many need to start thinking of a HOME look instead of an RV look. We removed the ugly fabric valances and my hubby built wood ones painted white that look awesome. Ours is 23 years old, and the doors work the same way as the new ones! We don't have any slideouts, so we are a little limited on changing furnishings out as those are where the furnace, wheel wells or service bays are under. But sheets of fabric can do wonders! Lol! We removed carpet and replaced with vinyl click n lock flooring, removed a cabinet and made a corner desk in it's place, and changed up the dinette seats. Outside, we removed the ugly decals, painted our door a fun color, and added shutters. People stop us all the time and love it! When they see the inside, they are shocked. They say it looks like a home. EXACTLY! This video with all the comments should be sent to all the rv manufacturers. Glad they listened on some things like making the colors lighter inside. Luckily we have not had issues with TOO many of these but there are a few. Yes, the screen doors are shoddy but hey, they work okay. Wish they were better but... Mattresses? Honestly, the one in our 2022 Newmar is pretty comfortable. All the YT videos (with accompanying YT creator-endorsed links that will get them $) had us momentarily convinced that we needed a new one but really....the one we got with the coach is just fine. YMMV, of course. Those power towers always had me shaking my head, especially the ones that are located near sinks. Our outlets are located in the bottom of the upper cabinets and suit us just fine---frankly, I am horrified at the thought of outlets at the level of water sources. Great video, thanks for doing this!

First, I agree about mattresses and furniture - I think including all furniture as optional choices would be a great way to sell RVs. Like building a house for color, counters, cabinets and flooring choices (and so on). Basic choices and higher price points, or buy it empty! Second, screen doors - did you know that if you need a new screen door for whatever reason, you have to buy the ENTIRE DOOR?! Completely wasteful and useless. Third, freakin' VALANCES! weird fabrics that match nothing and thick wood that sticks out and interferes with the use of space around the windows and can block views. Needless. But they are starting to change them into flat panel frames that only cover the area exposed at the edge of the shades. Another note, yes everyone is following READ - including Brinkley (the creators are from Grand Design)! Now they have made improvements that I love! BUT the floorplans are the same. That said, there are only a few functional and livable floorplans you can make within a certain square feet of space. I will say, if money were no object and I were looking to buy a new rig, Brinkley would be the one. I have a Grand Design Solitude now.

I'm unaware of any Class A or C motorhome from the last 30 years that is not fully self-contained. Quit saying it! Really, 80% or more of the feature list in any RV brochure is redundant.
