There are many good teachers on You Tube, but Will's tuition is second to none. The art club is such good value. In my first tutorial my art skills progressed. If your looking for online art tuition, look no more. Highly recommended!

Oft times when I work on a piece such as this one, when I find myself "in the zone", I get the distinct sensation of actually sculpting. It's a magnificent feeling.

I love your videoes! Great idea to show this limited pallete of Polychromos. I like Polychromos as well and I think I can use this metod of colouring as a beginner. But I have also Carandache Pencils and I like them very much but I feel that I can't use it in a proper way. I think I have a problem with blending. It would be great if you you could show how to blend Polychromos, Luminance and Prisma. I am very, very curious how to use all of them.

I can understand your problem. I couldn't figure out how to use Polychromos for some time and I didn't like to use them because of it. Luminance and Prisma are the same in use and blending. I have several tutorials on my channel working with them. For the more in depth tutorials + polychromos I have tons on in the Art Club.

One artist says that he does not have a recipe for skin color, because in the picture it does not matter at all what color the skin is. You can draw it in any color, even use different shades in different areas, they will still be perceived as skin color, because the main thing is volume and silhouette, not color. If you can convey volume and an interesting silhouette well, then it doesn’t matter at all what color you do it.

Well, if you do a portrait in graphite, color is irrelevant. But most people want to be able to color skin in a normal situation. There are plenty of exceptions but that ignores the overwhelming majority of natural lit skin.

Your talking about values. Lights darks mediums etc. the colours are very important but the lights and shadows are just important

Would it be possible to do the first layer with black color pencil to see the values and after that with watercolor??? Because graphite will make mud if you do that…would you give it a try and make a thumbnail video of it please? Greeting from Julia, the Netherlands

No bigger novice than me but there also aren't a lot of branded papers in my area so I could be searching for this paper all year...
