For $3k and under, you can also find the Acura TL/TLX (One of the two, I don't recall) from the 02-06! Same amount of horsepower too. I got mine a couple years back for about $2.5k. Just needed minor tune-up and it was 100% ready to go again!

You can get any car at any realistic price, the question is how much are you willing to put into it and the determination. Ofc you won’t find a mk4 supra for 5k or a r34 for 3k, but if you want an fc for 5k that’s do-able, but it’s probably rusted and has high mileage. Even if you get a moderately clean vehicle it will require maintenance and TLC to keep it that way. All in all, my advice is don’t buy someone else’s project, find a stock beauty that has issues and make it a project and STICK WITH IT! Do not give up, because the end result is a clean car that you built meaning you can rely on it at the end of the day. Most people dont have the patience and they throw away a project mid build and give it to some poor chump who doesn’t know what they’re doing! Stay true my friends!

The Gen 6 Celica is extremely slept on. I don’t recommend the automatic transmission or the ST trim. The GT paired with a manual transmission is a corner carving jewel. It comes from the factory with a low stance. All this combined is tons of fun.

I can completely agree. I own an st202 celica (Gt) and even tho it is FWD, it is A LOT of fun to drive. And reliable. Put a nice exhaust and you got a smile on your face for the whole ride. Handling is also pretty good (with the super strut suspension). I am just wondering, where do you get a GT for under 2k? I bought mine a while ago for 5,5k. Except for the paint, it was technicaly in pristine condition. But for the moment, you can't find a GT for under 8k. That makes me wonder.

I own a 6th gen celica and I totally believe it is a sports car, with some stiffer suspension and some grippy tires I have never driven a car that can take corners like that. Also paired with a 5 speed manual makes the car so fun. Plus the 5S-FE sounds so good.

For 25k you can get way better jdm cars than a evo8.. especially if you are new in the jdm scene you gonna realize real fast that whatever jdm car you buy you gonna be disappointed especially for the money you bought it for.. honestly if somebody told me they bought a I4 15 yo beat on Mitsubishi for 25k I'd lmao. Don't get me wrong it's a good car but it has nothing special coming with it. It is a I4 turbocharged car buhuu there are not millions of that out there and many way better while being way cheaper.

Its crazy to see how cheap these cars are, here in Brazil we barely had any of them and since imports become too expensive because of taxes even the cheapest "JDMs" are worth above 100k. A few months ago I saw a Miata around 140k BRL which is around 26.900$, its like paying 140.000$ for a 90's Miata, also the blob eye subaru is almost non existent and when available costs over 100k, and btw most people get less than 3k per month. The best I can afford is a 2000 LX honda Civic worth around 20k (3800$~) here and still an expensive car to maintain but its the closest to a "JDM" project for less than 50k here.

The most important thing when buying these cars is to never be in a rush to pick one up. You need to be patient and negotiate, then the seller will ultimately realse that they are asking for to much. If this doesn't happen, move onto the next car. Just be patient.

Yoo based on these comments it seems like you know your cheap cars pretty well. I just picked up a Volvo S60 2005 with a 2.4L 5 cylinder for $4K AUD. It's my first car, and the engine is known to be reliable asf getting 400K+ kms when well maintained. I was always a JDM fanboy before this and wasn't going to pick anything other than Lexus or Toyota (Lexus IS200 was my other choice). What are your thoughts on this car?? I love how clean this looks, and it's definitely a step up from the IS200 in terms of luxury. It's served me well for the past few months I've had it, although I've heard the biggest problems with this is PCV and trans. Any thoughts on the car?

Lol this guy....KA engines came with different varients.for ex the ka24e is SOHC with 3 valves per cylinder,ka24de is DOHC with 4 valves per cylinder and a slightly different design "shim over bucket valve actuation" along with other improvements like sensors,dipstick location etc..i dont know much about nissan engines but do know about ka24e ,i owned a 94 stanza which WAS UNFORTUNATELY equipped from the factory with a 2.4l ka24e FWD :( BUT i am also aware of other ka varients that belong to the hardbody pickup,early 90s.

A good Miata for less than $4k in 2023? Yeah good luck finding that. Same goes for the rest of the cars. For the prices you put, you'd get the bottom of the barrel for all of them. A clean Evo VIII will easily go for $30k all the way up to in the $40k range.

SC400 starts at $15k here in Aus. Toyota Soarer starts at $9kish though but still. All these cars are essentially 3-4 times the cost in Aus which sucks. Aus gets jipped hard on cars. Luckily we do have our Commies which Americans seem to love but as an Aussie, it's become overplayed a little too much and it holds no novelty to it,

Mr2 has a terrible gearbox, good luck finding one that doesn’t grind. Also the cooling system is bad. And last it will kill your back working on that mid rear. I used to own one and it still gives me back pains just thinking about it. 😅
