WR Traits
- Agility: Footspeed in release package, at the top of routes, and as a ball carrier.
- Speed: Top speed
- Change of Direction (COD): Ability to change directions without sacrificing speed
- Acceleration: Time to Top Speed
- Short Routes: Ability to separate on short routes: Slants, Sticks, Whips, Short Ins, Speed Outs, Etc.
- Intermediate Routes: Ability to separate on intermediate routes: Digs, Outs, Crossers, Hitches, Etc.
- Long Routes: Ability to separate on deeper developing routes: Posts, Go's, Corners, 15 Yard Comebacks, Double Moves, Etc.
- Release: Ability to separate from press-jam coverage
- Hands Consistency: Player's to avoid drops; players who are hands-catchers (not body-catchers) will receive higher grades
- Catch In Traffic: Ability to catch the ball through tight coverage and physical contact or to hold onto the ball in traffic after getting hit
- Catch Radius: Receiver's range to catch inaccurate passes, come down with low percentage catches, make spectacular catches along the sideline and/or high point the ball through leaping ability, reach, body control, and instincts.
- Run After Catch: Ability to quickly transition into a runner after the catch & to create difficult yardage after the catch
WR Role Fit
Alpha: Receiver with a chance, in a best case scenario, to be a scheme proof, true #1 Wide Receiver who can threaten to all three levels, running any route, from the the outside or from the slot. "Alpha Potential" will be noted when the player has a lot still to prove and work on in the league.
Ideal Architype: Justin Jefferson / Davante Adams
X: A big bodied, perimeter player who's #1 requirement is to work the sidelines and provide a large target for the Quarterback. The ability to play through physical coverage, win on stop routes, comebackers, backshoulders, and digs as well as to convert a high percentage of contested catches are requirements for players in this mold. The ability to stack corners vertically is a huge plus, but not a requirement.
Ideal Architype: Tee Higgins / Mike Evans
Route Runner: A receiver who's #1 quality is his ability to separate who coaches can rely on getting open early and often from various alignments and against any sort of coverage. Players in this mold must be able to separate from the slot, from the outside, short, intermediate, and deep... and against both press and off-coverage. Size, hands consistency, and perhaps run after catch are likely weaknesses in this players' games which keep him outside of the "Alpha" mold.
Ideal Architype: Jerry Jeudy / Tank Dell
Vertical: Traditional deep threat specialist on the outside, receiver who specializes in running Go's, Posts, and Stop routes.
Ideal Architype: Desean Jackson
Balanced: Effective receivers who lack true stand-out traits and ideal ways to utilize them but have good skill and, more importantly, a lack of true weaknesses in their game.
Ideal Architype: Keenan Allen
Slot: Receivers who will be best utilized from the slot who can become available for the Quarterback quickly by separating early or by finding soft spots in zones. Often smaller receivers who can be schemed out of having to face press coverage by playing from the slot, with motion, or from stacked alignments.
Ideal Architype: Julian Edelman / Amon-Ra St. Brown
Big Slot: Big bodied wide receivers who can play anywhere on the field but are at their best working the middle of the field with mismatch ability on Safeties and Linebackers as well as the toughness to attack balls in traffic in the intermediate middle and to create difficult yards after catch with a lower average depth of target.
Ideal Architype: Marques Colston / Cooper Kupp
Playmaker: Receivers who are excellent after the catch, but might need plays drawn up to scheme up touches due to a lack of route running or size to be consistent seperators.
Ideal Architype: Deebo Samuel

Just a couple typos/mispeaks: - Adonai Mitchell Potential Grade should be an 88 not 86 - Odunze has a 77 Impact and 87 Potential Grade, not a 96 (forgot to update that from the Nabers Graphic) - I said Legette is one of the best receivers in the NFL at throttling down/running stop routes, I meant in this class, not in the NFL

Burden if he can keep any injuries from lingering and taking him off the field for spells will be a top 10-15 pick next year. Dude is athletic, runs great routes, and is physical at the catch point. He isn't afraid of contact, or scared to come over the middle for a tough catch. I'd worry about his durability though as he's already been known to get dinged up a bit. A very talented receiver who has it all. He struggles with some of the more physically imposing defensive backs he matches with at the line of scrimmage though. He can get kind of lost when trying to get a good release if he's being jammed. If he puts another 10-15 pounds of muscle on his frame though, without sacrificing much of that athletic ability? He is going to be a damn good one. So will the Colorado Receiver Travis Hunter if he can keep the injuries from lingering as well. Hell Hunter could end up a great NFL Defensive back, or Wideout if he chooses to and stays healthy going forward. He's damn good and has the natural instincts to defend the pass, as well as find the open pockets, and find the openings in coverage for easy catches. He's a freak of nature all around.

Nabers has a unique ability to track the deep ball early and run through the catch. I also noticed in his highlights a few times he reads an underthrown ball and throttles down, using his back to wall off the defender and make an uncontested catch where most WRs would try to slam on the brakes, face up with defender and make a leaping contested catch. He turns 50% jump balls into uncontested catches and makes the throws look perfect.

1. I've heard from Texas fans that Worthy played last year with a broken hand (UT doesn't release player medical info apparently). 2. It was really funny seeing the Troy Franklin truthers on X post-combine, they kept posting a gauntlet drill graphic in response to the clip of the Coleman and Franklin gauntlet drills where you're supposed to be drifting toward each pass/ hugging the line (what Coleman was doing) and claiming that Franklin ran the drill the best (even though he was doing the exact opposite of the graphic they were posting lol).

Great breakdowns, as always, though I do think Roman Wilson is super underrated here (I would probably have him closer to 9 or 10 than 15, especially after his Senior Bowl and Combine performances) and Johnny Wilson being here at all without Ja'Lynn Polk here is kind of surprising. Would love to hear your thoughts as to your favorite landing spots for at least some of these guys, especially guys like Burton and J. Wilson that might need a more specific/refined landing spot to take full advantage of their skill sets. Also love the Keon Coleman and Xavier Worthy breakdowns specifically. There is an inherent risk to being a one-dimensional WR in some aspect and I love that their issues were highlighted while still accentuating how they can succeed at the next level.

Julio Jones was a better prospect coming out though. Hands down for me due to his physical demeanor when battling Defensive backs in his routes. Both Julio, and AJ had similar durability issues for the majority of their careers though that Marvin Harrison Jr has already started showing. Andre Johnson, and Larry Fitzgerald were the same type of talents with much more durability.

I just finished the video and learned a lot outside of the top 3. But for Odunze, Nabers, and Harrison, this is what I've been saying and people think I'm crazy! I think Nabers is just on a whole other level. This dude is being overshadowed by MHJ and I think it's largely due to the name hype. Not a knock on MJH, but I think you said it perfectly when you said Harrison is very polished. You can tell how much work the man has put into his all of his attributes of receiver; he's left no stone unturned. But Nabers has that "it" factor that MJH doesn't have. He is just ELECTRIC. You can't teach raw athleticisim. I think all three recievers have great careers, but Nabers is the type of dude to play an elite level right away in the NFL, whereas the other two will maybe need more time to get comfortable to the change of speed and such. Anyway, I'm glad people are sleeping on Nabers. I'm putting money on him to have ROTY.

@@imhotepnixon wow. I actually agree lol. Skyy has very good burst of the line. That play where he routed up Derwin James was insane. I’m not a tape expert but someone I trust with that stuff said that he has a lot of wasted movements in his routes. He’s shimmy-ing up guys too much when he should giving them a quick shake and bake and keep it moving. Hope he proves it this year 🙏🏾🔥

When you were plugging the patreon at the end I saw you gave Worthy a D run block grade and as a texas fan who watched him all 3 years I have to say despite his frame he blocks his ass off. Maybe it's just that big 12 corners hate to play run defense and also selective memory but I remember a lot of plays with Worthy holding blocks down the field clearing the way for Bijan and Roschon and Jonathan Brooks. I think against the perimeter corners he'll be matched up against he'll hold his own as a blocker.
@ThatFranchiseGuy
@ThatFranchiseGuy 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! That's good to know, I didn't necessarily see that, but the grade is much more related to the play strength and the gap between Big 12 corners and NFL corners like you said.

Adonai Mitchell had the fastest 10yard split on his 40 at 14.57 mph. his decision to not play fast off his release will have to change in NFL to be a serious offensive weapon. Thomas JR doesnt like physical play. NFL CBs can slow Thomas down

I think Rome Odunze has a lot more potential than you're giving credit for. It's not that unlikely he'll improve on some areas and turn into an elite WR. I think he has less potential limitations than Nabers. While Nabers is still really good, I see a potential heavier Justin Jefferson in Odunze. Nabers did well with Brian Thomas Jr opposite from him, and I think he'll go best to a situation where he can have that again. I see WR1 potential in Odunze. I think he can at least hit a DJ Moore level.

Based on the 40 and the simulcam comp between Xavier Worthy and John Ross I’d say Worthy deserves an A+ on Acceleration. He was yards ahead of Ross for the first 10 to 15 yards. Ross closed the gap at the end of the 40.
