I hope you like my selection. The video should be include almost all 3D polygon based games on SNES except 2-3 True Golf Classics Golf games. I hope I didn't miss any. BTW Yoshi's Island uses sprites not polygons for the collapsing 3D walls. :)

@@geekume5539 doom is not made of polygons
@geekume5539 Жыл бұрын
@@wobblingpixels3921 I know but doesn't make it not 3d. For example again. The term 3d isn't actually correct. What you are seeing is a visual trick to renderer what you would perceive as 3D. A big misconception that if a game isn't made of polygons then it isn't 3d but that isn't true. Unless we have a projector that actually gives as a 3 dimensional view of the landscape then nothing is. And once we get to that point people will look back and be confused how two people are arguing about the same technology done in two different methods. Case in point Doom is "3D" just as any game is "3D".

Sure, for today's standards those games may look outdated, but back then in the early 90s it was amazing to play games with real 3D graphics on your home console. Some of them are still worth to play. The SNES was the best home console of the early to mid 90s (I don't count the far superior Neo Geo AES for obviours reasons), and it's my all time favourite system with the best library of games. But the best SNES titles are the 2D sprite based games, like all those great fighting games, shooters, RPGs and platformers the SNES has to offer.

It's amazing to think I put probably hundreds of hours into Starfox as a kid, when today I consider it basically unplayable. The only SNES 3D games which have aged gracefully are the golf sims. That was a very good use of 3D on SNES. But most of the rest were a mess. Also, Dragonview is worth mentioning. It used a smart combo of polygonal ground + sprite tricks to create a 1st person open-world RPG.
@wobblingpixels39212 жыл бұрын
I think Dragonview worldmap consists of 2D polygons. They are all flat and the walls looks like sprites too me.

Stunt Race FX always felt like a demo for Super Mario Kart in 3d. There is a lot in this game that would be seen later in the MK series. I'd also go as far to say that Crash Team racing was partially inspired by the levels as well.

Vortex deserves a higher rating, for SNES era 3D games Vortex had a solid gameplay. Yeah, it requires some trickery that it's not obvious (like you are invincible during transformations so you can abuse the Hard Shell) but you'll learn it through gameplay. All 8 stages have a unique theme like shooting to go through, seek and destroy, exploring, a car race to the boss layer... it offers a very varied experience with nice unique controls that kind of feel like you are controlling a real Mech... anyway you missed Doom's red cartridge, good video

Possibly a silly question, but why is StarFox 2 only labeled for the US region, while showing in-game Japanese dialog? It looks like the SNES Classic did release it officially in Japan and US.

There is a hack for Race Driving that uses the SA1 coprocessor. It makes the game run faster than the original arcade😆. Also i think Steel Talons is very playable even with the low frame rate you only need a little tolerance to low frame rates and patience 😎. Dirt Trax FX has the distinction for been the FX game with the most stable frame rate, stable 15 fps in 1p mode and 12 fps in 2 players split screen. And Star Fox 2 was officially released with the SNES Classic Mini console .
