Holy crap the Cubs were insane that year! Much like us 2001 Mariners who had the same amount of wins. You'd expect those teams to win the World Series but as you said baseball is unpredictable. Like how in 2006 somehow the Cardinals who only had 83 wins and we're lucky to even be in the playoffs ended up winning the World Series

Frank Chance was not named Franklin... The team was known as the Orphans because they were one of the teams that emerged from the rubble of a prior league that folded, thus an "orphaned" franchise. They were called the Cubs because of their great first baseman Adrian "Cap" Anson. He was one of the most important figures in 19th century baseball, and as the century drew to a close, he was an elder statesman on the Chicago team with a bunch of young "cub" teammates.

but that Cubs team and the 2001 Mariners team you mentioned both won 116 games. If the 1906 Cubs played 10 more games I highly doubt they would have lost all 10. They would have the 162 game record if they played 162

Ah yes... the original Hitless Wonders. You neglected to mention the rotation from the South Side team, obviously the reason they made it to what was dubbed as "The Trolley Series", predating the first all-New York matchup by 15 years. One pitching legend for each side, Mordecai Brown for the Cubs, "Big Ed" Walsh for the Sox. Two years later in 1908, Walsh would win 40 games for his team. You heard me right, I said FORTY. One of only two pitchers in the century to reach the milestone, the other being Jack Chesbro for the Highlanders (now Yankees) in 1904.

1. Franklin Chance is more commonly referred to as Frank Chance. 2. 1:17 I am pretty sure that is Mordecai Brown, NOT Frank Chance. 3. The 162-game season was introduced in the AL in 1961, and in the NL in 1962. 4. The Cubs played in 3 tie games in 1906, meaning they really played in 155 games.

Back when i was a freshman in highschool i was talking with my math teacher about baseball/sports and we had a conversation about the best team as of record and i said it was the 1906 Cubs and was like yeah they have had the best winning percentage, but they did play 152 instead of 162 and this kid Andre said that the cubs were garbage and i'm like cool, Just because this 2015 and they haven't won the world series in forever doesnt mean that make your statement any more true. it was 100 years ago just like their last championship was about 100 years ago, Imaine that the team that has the best record of all time won a championship and had dominince during that time period. fucking Moron. But anyways i love the channel and the fact that you guys are both Mets fans and i can understand a lot of the jokes and general humor about this channel makes it all the more enjoyable for me and that you guys are consistently putting out funny enjoyable content makes me appreciate this channel. Itz Carpy They didn’t. I talked about this in the video. They had the same amount of wins but more losses because they played more games per season. The Cubs had the better winning percentage with the same amount of wins.
