If you are in England there are Numerous librarys that are under used and a wealth of books to read and research. The shame is that very few of the Indigenous population come to librarys today. The council are rapidly closing down such Facilities.

Shashi is wrong in saying that we lost race to China. Indians are quite capable of growing fast and overtake. But leadership need to change. Break the licence Raj, Remove corruption and we will overtake China in matter of few years. Today India grows at night when government sleeps. We are driving out capital and entrepreneurs.

It’s a fact that talent and capital are moving out of India. Because our government is corrupt. But we have not lost the race. By focusing on removal of corruption India can overtake China. There is hope.

The way understood the topic of China is - the fast paced growth and prosperity of China is coming at the expense of freedom. People's freedom to object a government take over of land for example. We value freedom more than wealth. So, if you compare India and China using the yardstick of level of freedom people has, then India is far ahead of China.

While there are many factors that led to Indian independence an important one is forgotten. In fact it is the reason for partition. The Atlantic Conference and Charter of 1941. Post War end to colonialism was a condition laid by Roosvelt to enter the war. The US needed the creation of Pakistan to achieve their military supremacy in the Middle East. A hedge against the unfinished Great Game. These aspects must be taught to get the complete picture.
