I never heard of Bobbie Gentry untiul just now, and I lived in Las Vegas in the 1970s. Anyhow, I did see the "Hallelujah Hollywood" revue for the first time in early 1974 at the MGM Grand. Then I saw it many times after that throughout its run. Still the best, although "Jubilee!" was excellent as well. A Donn Arden specactle, what more is there to say. Nobody makes them today like he used to. Okay, so I am almost certain that when I first saw the show in January 1974, the featured singers did not yet have wireless microphones. Not sure how the live vocals amplification was done then. Here in this award show, from the same year the mics are all wired, cabled. At one point in time the Vegas shows became early adopters of this cutting-edge wireless microphone technology.

1974 saw Bobbie Gentry as briefly the highest paid act on the Vegas strip thanks to her multi million dollar contract with The Howard Hughes Organization to headline his string of casinos for 16 week per year. Even Elvis did not have paychecks that deep in 74.
