I didn't know Kenny Loggins was involved in this. My respect for him was already high but learning this this made me respect Loggins soooo much more.

You'd have no idea just hearing the normal speaking voices of Loggins and McDonald that they can sing so darn well.

one of the catchiest tunes, of all time...with that Christmas-y sounding-keyboard hook from McDonald. And in spite of how catchy it is, I NEVER grow tired of hearing it...never. Aretha Franklin did her due diligence with it, and really made it sparkle and pop. But there is NOTHING like the original. Loggins and McDonald are legends. And they seem to be part of an era and generation, where songwriting and song production, was a literal, art form. That is no longer the case in music today..IN ANY GENRE.

Definitely agree about the writing and production. It’s a lost art. I’m glad my parents were baby boomers, so I can have and appreciation for real music artistry.

Because Michael collaborated with Kenny alone on it. This particular award was given to the songwriters. Incidentally, the story about it starts on page152 of Michael's new memoir, WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES. I'm reading the book this week.
