@@jezzdavis9059 They really aren't though, they do indeed have some pop songs and heavily leaned into pop after that point, but they are SOOOOOO much more than "just a pop band". I would argue that even when they did predominantly pop songs they weren't even a pop band, because every single song they have every dropped has had tons of soul and has been a reflection of Matty in some way. They make music because they love it and feel it, not only to generate money and keep the teens hooked.

Wow, well you sound like a music scholar on the way up. Bach did this for this reason, Beethoven did that for this reason. Amazing stuff. All based upon speculation. I had to study shit like that. They are not connected until the writer says to you that they are. In terms of Bach and Beethoven, the scholars just made up their own narrative because they obviously couldn't ask them. Ask the writer of the song or Matt if you will. Are these songs connected, I'm guessing that's a big NO.

@@mr_nxbxdy give King No One - Two Islands a listen, a lot of their stuff sounds the same though. There wasn't really a band like The 1975 which is why they were as good as they were, the second album with The Sound on it was good but their Third was so far away from their previous stuff.

how can they make so much music yet retain that inexplicable, core 1975 sound??? from orchestral interludes, UK Garage tracks and their full on pop tunes, there is this common vibe that just makes me feel something that only the 1975 make me feel. i love it.
