i just did a frame cut video series on a an old beverage truck. i showed it from start to finish. im not a pro by any means but it came out good. you can see how i lined up the two frames, how i did the splice joint, the outside double frame and the inside frame liner. not saying it is the best or the only way to do it...just the way i did it. hope you find something useful in the videos. if you have any questions email me "j.c.smithprojects@gmail.com" love the visual aid drawings! very impressive.

Thanks for the kind words 🙂👍 I truly appreciate you taking the time to view my video! 😃 I was just watching that one yesterday lol. You done an amazing job in my opinion. Funny how the guy said during down time he would take the frame back apart and grease in between, and you said it would never get done 😂 I was thinking the same!..I may send you an email. Thanks again! 🙂👍 it means a lot

Ford made 360 - 390 for pickups and 361 - 391 for the big trucks. I don't know why but it sounds crazy. I use to work in a truck shop cutting and making trucks shorter and longer and your on the right track with what your thinking, good luck and be safe.

Big plans Zane, Major undertaking. Make sure you plate the inside of frame where you join it. The outer doubler frame addition will then have more to bolt to. Gonna be a cool truck when you finish it. On the stuck engine, pull the plugs first, might be hydro-locked. Put the truck in fourth and rock it, might break loose. Thanks for sharing.
@HODGEPODGEDODGEGARAGE
@HODGEPODGEDODGEGARAGE 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks JT 🙂👍 I'll plate the inside also. Forgot to mention that. I put transmission fluid in the cylinders. It sat for about two weeks and still wouldnt budge. Good call on putting it in 4th and rocking it 😃👍 I'll have to try that

Fine job explaining your operation in an idiot proof way. Your passion and vision for vintage gear is quite unique today. Most people would see a beat down old p.o.s. That would cost too much to put back into service. But to a true gearhead with some initiative it's totally possible. Make it happen brother and prove it to them all. Great videos God bless.

I used to work for the International dealer here in Louisiana and I've done this job before. I think the hardest part will be driveshaft length. We were fortunate to have a person in our shop that was very good at building driveshafts. We'd measure out the shaft and he'd build it. It was always right on the money! However, it might be easier to just swap out the frames. The advantages of this is NO cutting or alignment worries, which are always a hassle anyway. Swapping bodies and drivetrain, as well as the engine, may take more time, but is way easier than all of the cutting and alignment worries you'll deal with in the long run. There is a strength advantage as well. An uncut frame is generally stronger than a cut and welded frame. I'm also a new subscriber and am enjoying the work you're doing on this old truck to bring it back to life. I binged this entire series about this truck and really enjoy this type of KZbin content.

Zane check out JC Smith Projects , he does frame stretches and mods. Watch the clutch linkages on the F series, the relay rod from the pedal to the z bar is a weak link.wears at the piviots. We had 330 cid's famous for dropping valves. 390 cid is a good one. The governor is a velocity activated system which mounts under the carb it can be removed. Good explanation on your mods! Ed

A 391 and a 361 are quite different from a 390 or 360. The way to tell a 391. from anything else is; there are 2 extra exhaust manifold bolts near the center ports. The 391 also has 2 thermostats. There are some internal differences too.

Other than a couple of J-hook chains the stinger on the roll back is pretty much complete. It was never intended to be a wheel lift type stinger. It was for towing junk cars not nice cars. You just put that round pipe up against the bumper and used a couple of j-hook chains to hook it up. Real low tech and fine for junk cars or vehicles with bumpers that can deal with it.

Zane, subscribed! Like your explanation and the way you do videos... Very laid back and a great change from a lot who are obnoxious, keep it the same sir! One question... Will going to the 4x4 setup change the height of the rollback bed, and if different, does that present any problems with geometry for the bed as it rolls on and off the frame?
