Bought my R80G/S 40years ago. It's done similar mileage and has the same fuel tank. I still do 2-3000 Miles round the Yorkshire Dale's every year, on and off road. G/S = Gentleman's Scrambler😀

These bikes are crazy expensive in Australia - if you can find one for sale. I desperately wanted one for a long time, but not so much these days because I am into lighter bikes now. I have ridden both an 80 GS and 100 GS PD, and I liked the 800cc engine more, a bit smoother, less tractor-like but adequate power (for solo riding ). A modern EFI bike will get much better fuel economy, so instead of carrying 70 liters, a modern bike will only need about 45 liters of fuel for the same range. R80GS Basic weighs the same as a gen 3 KLR650 @ 210kg wet. BMW 24L KLR 23L. If only BMW made a fuel injected 850cc oil head with telelever/paralever. Wait a sec, they did - the R850GS. Sold in Europe only in very small numbers.

My old world. Nothing wrong with them. Expensive to build, emissions. RTW then and now. R9T Urban is a good new basic. Much easier to pick up than most bikes. Givi hard bags or softs. Ride it.
