The 1993 Mitsubishi Mighty Max Rescue - Getting Her In Time

Picked up a 93 Mitsubishi Mighty Max that was going to be scraped if it was not moved from the apartments where it was parked.. The truck had a broken timing belt and the previous owner paid a mechanic to change the belt but he could not get it running..
I am going to repair the truck and put it for sale, I just could not see the truck go to the junk yard for something as simple as the timing belt!

Do you have to set the gravity on the oil pump with the mighty max as i see others do when setting the oil pump at its mark on other 4G63 engines.

I went through all this its easy...im no professional but those 2.4s are simple and rock solid. Other than valve seals and at 250000 miles oil rings can get weak and shes use oil

Got mine to start after 5 years of sitting. Ran for a minute revved real high so i turned it off now it wont start. Prior to starting tank was cleaned out and fresh gas out in. Still in timing and has spark. Any ideas?? Also cant get it to start with starting fluid anymore either

I'm buying a v6 mighty max this weekend. The owner sent me a pic of the new belt they installed after it blew a head gasket and I see that the passenger side is off by 6 teeth. They tell me they can't get it to start. Do you know if the 6g72 an interference motor?

Hey question im replacing my distributor on my mighty max where did you get yours from ? Mechanic says autozone has the wrong one my cord seems too short how long was your plug ?

Hey man, great video. Didn't know about that trick with the dizzy. However, I tried doing that but couldnt get it to go in without my rotor turning. Also, I've set my timing marks about 200 times on my 94 and it still runs like total shit. Sometimes I can get it to time up and run but it misfires like crazy.

Can you tell me how I can remove the driver side balance gear I need to replace the seal behind it and it just spins any tips ? ( I’ve tried with belt on as well)

Mine does the same thing it cranks but doesn’t start I changed fuel pump and check the pressure do you think it’s the old gas and what should I do drain. It and put new gas ?

What is your fuel pressure? Are you getting spark?

Alvaro Sotelo consider looking into the main relay located on the passenger foot panel area along side the main ecu they tend to go bad , changed it on mine started right up after changing distributor, fuel pump, spark plugs & wires

Just tighten up the nut to the clutch cable that goes into the firewall

Yea you can get the lash adjusters on amazon for about $2 each if you buy them in a 24 pack. That works out to 3 sets for the truck engine. That is cheaper than you can get a single set for at a parts place or the dealer.

The lifters are easy, you just pull the rack off the top the valve train and stick them in there.. I will be doing one soon as I am about to replace the head on one of my trucks but I am in the process of moving into a house we just purchased so that project has gotten pushed off a bit..
