Wire nuts are a treat, I seen one last year that had been bolted together then taped. Another one was soldered then taped but it was very poorly soldered. You couldn't touch the connections they got so hot.

Those two caps you swapped are a cool idea. I was kinda hoping you’d go into a technical discussion of what’s happening and why it works. Additionally, what do you think the downsides are as far as longevity. We all know that TS were pretty decent boxes as long as you kept things in reason. How about these mods, is it approaching what you guys do on custom boxes, is it still AB bias? Do you think it’s pushing the transistors a little harder closer to running an engine at redline for an extended period? Keep the key times under a minute and keep the fans on, and your only real concern is heat? Is that your most common amp failure mode? Too much heat too long and the 10ohms let their smoke out? Would it be a dumb idea to use a temperature sensing diode like we typically see on fan control, and switch it to disable the keying relay when things are starting to BBQ in the box? Dumb idea as the temp sensor elements aren’t consistent enough in their usage?

What would the Palomar put out if it was set at 10-12 volts.? Like the first test? I know it's a dirty amp. But wouldn't that extra 4-5 volts make it worse?

Low pass ? I have no experience with using low pass filter, curious if it would clean it up enough to be acceptable

@@kennethmartin339 the different colors indicate the different Hfe gain batches that they were put in. I personally think they were applied by rf parts not Toshiba. black dots were the highest hfe than it was yellow blue green. The Non DOT which most people use which works perfectly fine had gains of under 100. Then on a completely different place on the transistor they started putting the Red Dot to show that it is different than the non-red dots as far as the material in the foot of the transistor otherwise there's absolutely no difference between the parts

Hi Mr. BBi and others, Most of the Low-Med-Hi switches seem to make very little difference.. Why is that ?? In my opinion, ti Hi is 700w Med should be about 550 to 600w and Low about 300 to 450w this is PEP.. Maybe the Dead Key has a bigger Percentage of change, IDK.. ♠Mr.G..

@@BoxBuilderIdahoI was really talking about the Palomar and all them other kinds of amplifiers I really was not pointing to the 667 Texas Star.. let me try to say it another way, if one goes from high to medium and it changes 10% and you go to low and it changes another 10% that's not very much change.. and a lot of them seem to follow that pattern.. ♠️Mr.G..

So why could you not clean up this Palomar? Not trying to give you hard time either trying to understand why this is such a dirty bird and why you could not clean it up? Thanks for your time!
