Many Thanks PJ; terrific roundup of an interesting decade! I’ve been training to restart my coin collecting by watching your very informative ( and addictive) videos for the last month or so. Went “live” yesterday and bought $500 in $2 coins from my bank. One $50 bag had 17 coloured coins including a 2013 purple Coronation! I definitely owe someone a box of chocolates!

Hey Pj awesome video many thanks I have noticed the last 6 months the 2013 $2 has sky rocketed in circulated condition, but I think the 1 to watch is the 2014 $2 from now on plus the red 2015 $2. Many thanks for your video and cheers to the new year.

Great videos, PJ. A minor point to correct you on, especially as you contradicted yourself, was the fact that you said at 0:09 that it was 31/12/2019 and the end of the decade but at 4:18 you say that the 2011 coin is the start of the decade. You cannot have a decade ending in a "9" because a decade contains 10 years and when starting at a "1", it must end in a "0", hence the end of the decade would be at the end of 2020. As I write this at 10/6/20, approx 6.5 months to go. This is the same error EVERYBODY made at the end of 1999 saying that we were going into a new millennium when, in actual fact, we still had 1 year to go until the end of 2000 years. Because of your videos, I am now checking all coins I receive. Keep up the good work.
@---pb5bl2 жыл бұрын
He actually said 2010 is the start of the decade.
@paulh14472 жыл бұрын
@@---pb5bl Correct. The start of any decade, century or millennium is always "Year 1", eg. 2011, 2001 etc meaning that years like 2010, 2000 is the last year of the old decade, century or millennium. We count one to ten, not zero to nine, usually, but, I say again, it was a minor point. Tell me what you think of these coloured $2- coins. The quality of the paint within the designs is not the best. I see a lot of these coins at work and even the brand new ones being sold in the commemorative packets do not appear to hold the paint in the centre of the coins. Maybe the Mint needs to focus some new technology into this area.

About the Red Poppy, I assume the values are based on the coin with the "Lest we Forget" card issued by the RSL in which I have two of as well as another two found in circulation. Still have not found the 2013 Coronation coins in which last time I seen one in Circulation was in a tip jar back in 2015. Otherwise, have most of the Coloured coins except for the 2018 Coat of Arms Commonwealth Games, 2019 Repartiations and the 2019 Police Remebrance.

Now October 2020 and an old pensioner collector not a SELLER, I am so tired of getting out my $400 dollar limit in coins and finding none because so many SELLERS are getting rolls just to sell for a profit leaving kids and amateur collectors missing out.

Happy New Year PJ! I have been inspired by yours and other coin collecting channels to start collecting again after giving away my good finds from my childhood. Yesterday I was given a 1991 $1 dollar coin in surprisingly good condition and thought it might be from someone's collection. When I searched for the mintage on ramint.gov.au it says none were minted for circulation that year. Is this an error or a particularly rare coin? Hope you can help me and have a great 2020 regardless! :)

It would most likely be a coin from a mint set only.

Do your own research. Check eBay sales on the poppy. There have been sales higher than $150.00 and they will continue to climb in price. The C mint marked coin has sold for over $200 each but like I said do your own research.
