Thanks for showing us how to do it simple. Not all of us have a router, joiner, planer or any kind of fancy tools. You even do it on the floor. No vice's or clamps. I look forward to more. Keep it up.

You don't have all that stuff? well you haven't been selling enough body parts lol Seriously though you're right that#s how they did it in the old days; power tools just make things quicker easier and with less effort....allegedly.

No fancy tools? That DeWalt is $450 paired with a Diablo saw blade that's around $45, and the drill is $50 without batteries.

I used this simple stool as the basis for a shop stool for my workshop. My butt isn't as skinny as y'all's so I widened the seat a tad. For strength I made the seat out of 2x6's instead of 1x8's and joined them with pocket screws so as to practice that skill. Since it's for my shop I'll paint instead of stain it. Nice, simple design and it was easy to put together.

I made two of these this weekend to go under a pub table I made last week. For the price, they are perfect. Not the best, but definitely not the worst and each one was actually UNDER $20 because I bought 2x6's and ripped them down to 2x3's myself. Also, I added pocket holes for a little more steadiness. Thanks again for the idea and plans. It is about the 5th thing in my home from you guys!

You guys are great your videos are crisp your builds are cool. NOW STOP SCREWING INTO END-GRAIN! Use pocket hole joinery guys who are watching. If you want to screw into end-grain that's great use it just as a clamp for glue. And when you glue up pre-fill that in green with glue. What I mean is apply glue wait for it to soak into the end grain and apply some more until it stops sucking it up. Imagine end-grain being a handful of straws. You try to stick a screw in there you just stuck in ornament that is meant to pull out into your end grain but if you pre fill that in end grain with glue and then screw into it, the screws act like a clamp and the glue has nowhere to go but to create a strong bond. This is not meant to be hating so don't take it as such just trying to make sure people are building furniture that lasts for generations

Holy cow! Here is the solution I've been looking for! I am planning to make these soon. I created a bar out of a stock lowes workbench and have been struggling to find the right stools. I will be able to make perfectly matching stools that nest beneath. And all of your sizes work for me! I wish the store was open all night because I'd be making a 1am run to buy wood. Lol

I made one today (10/25/18). I have one more to make tomorrow. Nice easy method. My local home depot doesn't carry trim head screws so I had to use regular screws that were left over from the bench project. I just drilled them in pretty deep and then covered it up. Thank you both very much for these tutorials. I for one am definitely using them.

So I just made this today for my wife as a sort of early birthday present. Took me about an hour and a half to get to the staining. I don’t have a miter saw so I had to use my circular saw. It turned out pretty good for my very first DIY project. It looks awesome. Thank you for posting this and making it easy to follow.

Opinion… would this stool look good if I made it shorter to fit under a normal dining table? I am not feeling a bench because I don’t want everyone to have to get up if someone wants out. My concern is if the rectangle at the bottom would look weird if it was that short? Or maybe use wood that is half that width for the bottom? I’ll assume you haven’t made one like that so just hoping for your opinion.
