You missed Ecco the Dolphin. Fail the difficult final boss and you’re kicked back to the start of the previous level: a 6 minute auto scroller with hundreds of instant death opportunities

I was able to beat Battletoads/Double Dragon a few years ago thanks to a rewind gameplay feature. Unfortunately I still wasn’t able to make it past the hoverbike level even with this “cheat” 😝

Contra Hard corp is the hardest game on Genesis and hardest Contra game ever. The only way i could beat the game was the Contra anniversary collection with save slot so Im accept to be call a noob.

I actually had Dick Tracy or played it way back when. I was genuinely shocked to see that game on the list. I loved the movie, the game was tough too. Surprised none of the Rolling Thunder games made the cut.

Good list! I'd also nominate the US version of Dynamite Headdy. The first third of the game is pretty easy, but the later levels and bosses can get extremely difficult. It is also tough to collect continues and if you run out of them, you have to start the game all over!

You must have blocked out the memory of just how punishing The Lion King and its difficulty spikes were. I’ve seen jaded Soulsborne players give up at levels 2 and 4.

I did beat ghouls and ghosts it was hard I used to get mixed up with ghouls and goblins but I beat it ghouls and ghosts

That one got my vote. I've played through dozens of platformers over the decades, but none come close to the latter half of Dynamite Headdy. It is one of the only platformers I could never beat. The Japanese version is _slightly_ easier, but still difficult.

Eternal Champions was fluke. You had to be on a certain position to execute a "fatality" which sucked.
