Dressrosa being Spain and having the Colosseum is kind of fitting. Rome's best Emperor, Trajan, was born in Spain. His epithet was the Optimus Princeps... Literally "Best Ruler".. and each emperor was coronated with the blessing of, "May he be luckier than Augustus, and better than Trajan". So every emperor after him had to live up to that

The Ales Colosseum in France is not to far from the Spanish border. Oda may have started with Spain as the baseline and took some stuff from the surrounding region for flavor. That, and it would look cool.

Check out Plaça monumental or Plaça de les Arenes in Barcelona. We are an anti bullfighting city but we still keep bullfighting plaza. Given that most of the architecture in Dressrossa is based in Gaudi's art, I would consider other monuments in Barcelona. For instance we've got a statue of Columbus, and we meet orlombus there.

However, it would be an inaccurate representation of what happen, so they most likely would do it in words (so they don't have to put more effort than necessary). I think Portugal being the representation of the Goa Kingdom makes much more sense than the Netherlands or the Philippines. I don't think it's the Netherlands because the real state of Goa, India was a former colony of the Portuguese. And, I don't think it's the Philippines because of the architecture and fashion style of the Goa Kingdom matches more closely to ~19th century European architecture and fashion style.

It's amazing how Oda's creativity gives us such a good politycal system. Where in order to maintain a stable power, someone had to buy all the leaders into luxury and far from their lands, so that not being local to each one's kingdoms the kings wouldn't act on favor of their country, not being necessarily beneficial for the king, turning out on a not usage of their power... LITERALLY extracting the independence from a territory delicately. On MF point Oda 🙌

Small note on the Goa Kingdome. Goa is a city in India, founded by the Portuguese in 16th Century, who had the the first Global Maritime Empire in History, who also discovered Brazil, which is the country which Luffy is based on, according to Oda's SBS. So it could be that the Grey Terminal is a mix of the Slums of Manila with Brazil's Favelas. Portugal's throne was also "taken" by the Spanish in 1580, when King Sebastian dying at a young age; which could be a reference to Sabo being replaced by Sterry.

I always figured Alabasta was more of a generic Middle East representative, though I felt it was more based on Babylon. I would be shocked if Oda didn't have a country based off of Germany and Italy, but considering what One Piece is based off of, I would hazard a guess that those countries that were dominate during the Golden Age of Piracy would be the Countries that formed the 20 kingdoms. Tge architecture would be more Portuguese than spanish, with a touch of that Indian flair, and Speaking as a Goan myself, I wouldn't be surprised if that was true. . . Though I would wonder when oda Sempai would have come to visit . . .
