I inherited a 2017 GT premium convertible from my late father this year with all of the available options from the factory. It was his pride and joy but as his health failed the last couple of years he couldn’t take care of it like he used to so the exterior and interior went downhill pretty fast. I replaced the drivers seat and spent a week detailing the interior and exterior and it looks almost new again. I removed all of the seats, steamed cleaned everything and shampoo’d it all too. Buffed and polished the paint, headlights and gave it a wax job. Gave it a fresh oil change when I got it home. The front brakes have some vibration at highway speed so I might need to replace those. But the tires were replaced in the last year with a set of pirelli so those are real nice. It’s a gorgeous car and so much fun to drive. It has 47k miles and runs, shifts and drives like a dream. It doesn’t burn any oil as far as I can tell. He changed the oil every 3k or every 6 months with Mobil 1 synthetic and motorcraft filter every time, so be babied it. It’s all stock and sounds good to me and is fast enough without a bunch of aftermarket upgrades, so I’ll just leave it as is. From what I’ve read the 15-17 years were a sweet spot for these in terms of performance combined with reliability. I’m going to keep this car in the family as long as I am able to.
@CoyoteCamm4 ай бұрын
I’m sorry to hear about your late father. He left you with an amazing car! The 15-17 mustang gt’s are amazing and can hold a lot of power! I’m glad you are enjoying the car and yeah i agree i would definitely try to keep the car in the family for as long as possible

That Ford performance pack kit is a must for the 2015-2017 GT. I installed it myself and it was easy. It came with a GT350 throttle body and a new intake filter system along with a tune you can download to a laptop and install it yourself to the car. Just follow the instruction closely. This kit woke my 2015 GT up from all the nanny crap the manufactures are made to install on the stock tune. You will not regret it!

I just got the exact same model, same color and even same milage except it's a 2019 and Premium. I got it for $32k. It's something I have always wanted and I love it. I went with a longer term on payments because I work remote too so I won't be putting on tons of miles and this bad boy will still be worth well over $20k in five years. Being in my late 50's I have had plenty of stangs. My wife and I just bought a 17 lightning blue 6 speed. We are the 2nd owners and have done some tasteful mods. Ford has the air intake and throttle body from the gt 350 with a tune for $800 or so. That and a magna flow street series exhaust is music to our ears. Paid $25k for my 2019 Ecoboost 2 years ago … now they value it $16-18k … put my eyes on a GT of the same year that cost about $30k… but how can you justify 600/700 dollars a month payment?
@CoyoteCamm9 ай бұрын
Honestly if i were you i would test drive a GT to see if it’s worth it to you. I know for me i work remote and have a lot of my expenses reduced so that helps out a ton. But honestly i stayed away from the 2018+ GT’s because at the time they were going for 35k + before taxes, so in California that would put me at 40-45k including warranty and that was something i was not going to do. I’m currently paying $500/month but i think you should test drive one and see if it’s worth it. The power is there, the aftermarket mods are there and honestly this has been my dream car since 2014.

The 18 manifold isn't better than the 350. It can do close to the same peak power wise but the 350 does better up top and holds power better at high rpm.

@CoyoteCamm9 ай бұрын
@@CraigK5thGen i heard that ford is allowing you to add on a whipple supercharger from the dealer for the new msutang gt's
@CraigK5thGen9 ай бұрын
@@CoyoteCamm yes that’s true. That said, the kit is $9,995 before tax through Ford. You can find it sometimes elsewhere for a little less on sale at times, maybe closer to just above $9k. And that doesn’t include install labor, which is probably in the $1,500-$3,500 range. You need to have a Ford dealer or ASE certified tech do the install to maintain the warranty on the car. And the cheapest I’ve seen base trim ‘24 GT’s is like $40-42k, and that’s before all the dealer fees, sales tax, etc. So, let’s say you had no trade to offset some of the sales tax on the car…. You could be looking at another $1k to $2,500 in dealer fees depending on dealer and your skills at the art of negotiation, plus another $2k-$3k in sales tax on the car. I’m guessing you’re looking at closer to $60k all in to get a new base GT and add the Ford Performance supercharger kit. If you want premium trim, add more to that cost…. Not saying that’s a bad deal for 800 plus HP by any means… but it’s still a TON of money and most younger folks can’t swing that… let alone most people REGARDLESS of age! So… a few year old super clean, low mileage S550 (the videos point…) is not a bad option for a car with 435 HP stock and under or just around $30k.
