Can you guys imagine how silly this video will be in 20 years from now? We know that today, for a robot to climb stairs, pick up objects and get out of a car are very hard activities motion/balance wise. But these are just things that we'll see as primitive in the future, as we see today, for instance, the major breakthrough of 512KB flash drives or the amazing design of Windows 95. Really cool! Looking forward to that future!

+ajtronic People always overlook the the easiest stuff like walking around as amazement. Should look up the paralyzed people videos who have to use robotic legs just to go like 50 feet. Moving laterally and balancing w/ 1 foot is a huge challenge for robots and still for people who don't practice it.

Isn't it weird how they didn't mention military applications?, I reckon they've done a shifty, and they used the public to create robots for them then there going to upgrade them or advance their technologies to be used for the military.

*Robots in the Field* Imagine how much effort has been put in to get these machines to make gestures that we would consider to be normal? Each team is given and hour to complete a series of tasks, with the winner being the team that undertakes these tasks in the minimal amount of time. Many things can go haywire in this challenge. Many of the robots fell over trying to complete the tasks. #Darpa #robotics

There is a focus on the comments on military options . I think we are a multiple number of years away from that. The competition was initiated after the 2011 Fukushima nuclear facility disaster . Of course we will use “ high tech and robots “ in war . BUT THE OPPORTUNITY to use robots in “ search and rescue , recovery and repair “ is more likely now in 2024

People cheer when a robot opens a door, and people are worried about Skynet becoming a thing lol
@tsvetomiriliev3068

Bakkefication About skynet, skynet is AI controlling the robots, if the military atm dont allow robots to choose if a human is threat and kill him or not I doubt they will make skynet and give total control over all robots to an AI that may have code glitches happening now and then. Why do we need the robots? As I said at another video: We need farming robots, after that the government must invest some money to get them and put them on the fields to work 24/7 with attached charging cable to them, the costs for food and vegetables will drop tremendously, after that at 2020 cars with autopilot to transport the food, so at the end you will have a very cheap food to buy. The government must also do the same when it comes to mining, producing electricity and water supply. A great deal of money must be invested in solar/wind energy so they can keep charging the robots. Remove all private sector from these areas and the government will have enough resources to give away for free to their citizens, meaning that every unemployed citizen will actually get pension no matter what the age, thus he will be able to sustain himself without working. The happyness level of the population will be off the charts because at this moment people feel like slaves when it comes to not having an option but work something which you do not prefer, almost against your will because you do not have choice, if you do not work you get thrown to the streets and die.
