@@Ko_onstantin Yeah that's his opinion but I've also seen sites that take photos with different phones and judge which cameras took the best photos. They take low light, full sun, video, portrait, they take all sorts of photos with each camera and decide which photos were the best and you can see all the photos and judge for yourself as well and iPhones are usually behind Samsung, Huawei and pixels. Apple has dropped the ball with their phones and most people that aren't blinded by being a dedicated fan can easily see that. There was a time when they had the best Cameras but not anymore. There was a time when they made the best looking phones but not any more. There once was a time when their phones had the best features but not any more. I'm not saying Apple phones are bad, far from it but they're not the best in any segment apart from the power of their chip but again their phones aren't the fastest because of the lack of ram so Samsung phones are faster yet having a slower chip.

You’re paying for the experience of a cohesive, efficient software experience that is locked down against viruses and not easily penetrable. Annoying but not the biggest problem for me. Still less than 3K display with less than 230 ppi. Still no USB-A and never will be for no good reason I can think of. Vanity and selling dongles? Mostly likely still louder, less battery life and worse performance than than my 4K Lenovo workstation. I much prefer Mac OS to Windows and have owned several Macbooks in the past yet unfortunately can't buy one again. I get that they want to be more fashionable than a Lenovo workstation but they make the Mac Pro, why not make a MacBook that is actually Pro? It's a joke they are calling the baseline 13 inch model "Pro". Even the 16 inch lacks important features that many pros and even some consumers want, and should be able to get at that price.

Tom The Dude get an air if you aren’t doing anything too heavy (hardware intensive) with it. Main difference is thermal throttling and if you don’t do some demanding visual work for long periods it shouldn’t be a problem.

Tom The Dude I highly recommend it. I’ve been editing videos and doing some relatively demanding stuff on a MacBook Air and a Pro. Both do the job perfectly, personally I prefer the Pro only due to the touchbar (since i’m a fan of it) but the performance isn’t noticeably better if you stick to the ”base level” Pro. Also when you buy a Mac in a year or two (not sure when ”Test year” is sorry) you should make sure you get one with an Apple ARM processor instead of an Intel one. The ARM chips are vastly superior.

I'm watching this video from my 2020 13" baseline MacBook Pro and I like that! It does heat like crazy sometimes, sounds and looks very good, native apps works great and Safari is better than ever on this machine. I feel like I could go with this machine for years. Maybe it wasn't for you, but if you are a casual user who wants a good computer that will go with them for a couple of years, it's for you. Note: The battery life is not that great, buy the M1 version if you care about that.

@@dario_lind yes, I still do. After Ventura, the heating and battery life issues became unbearable but I have to do because I don't have the money to get a M1 MacBook Air, let alone M2 ones. The value could not drop that much actually, I think these computers will be better than Apple silicon ones in some niche ways (native Windows/Linux support for example), so they could hold their values a little bit more than we anticipated

Video Editing is one of the most graphically intense things you can do on a laptop. If it can edit multiple 4k videos at a time, it can do pretty much anything else (other than heavy gaming ofcourse)

Summary: The MBA performs basic tasks better than the MBP until you get to the $1,800 version. But the MBA is great value for a quadcore 10th gen cpu at $1,100. Basic productivity users would hardly see ANY tangible difference as you could run several basic apps, 20 chrome tabs, and play several videos such as Netflix/youtube on an external monitor simultaneously at super snappy speed without even hitting 60 degrees on either machine. If you want better video editing performance on a budget... maybe get a base 13 MBP. You can’t realistically game on either machine, so it makes no difference if the base 13 inch MBP would theoretically perform less shitty when you play games. If you want realistic potential to game in any capacity or do serious video editing... you should at least get the $1,800 MBP version. But even then if you if you really want performance... the 16 inch MBP will perform significantly better for a fraction more in cost. The 13 inch MBP is really just a niche machine for people who: A)want decent performance for multi-core video editing apps in a $1,300 range, B) Want the absolute fastest productivity performance machine with versatility, and don’t mind that the $1,800 version isn’t a cost-efficient boost in performance compared to a $1,100 quad-core MBA. C) Just want a sufficient portable device for lighter video editing/gaming, and don’t mind that it’s not optimal in performance compared to the less portable 16 inch model.
