The CVT in this one is actually pretty good! GM must have learned from their past CVT mistake, the infamous VT-25 found in the 03-04 Saturn ION Quad Coupe and 02-05 Saturn Vues, as well as Nissan's mistakes with their's. This one is chain driven, and it's a good match for the engine. No major issues getting up to speed on the freeway.

I actually love 3 cylinder engines (at least in motorcycles, I had 2 triples) They have good torque for the displacement and a unique exhaust note. I've never driven a 3 cylinder car, but if some of that comes though I'm open minded enough to try it.

I'm Gen Y but when I see the state of car manufacturers right now, I hate Gen Z millennials with a passion. Every car now is either aimed at soccer moms, 16 year old boys for people in midlife crisis. I'm disabled and have chronic pain and I don't care how well these kids' cars handle. I want something that is comfortable, luxurious and won't be the car I take to the chiropractor. Buick is hardly the worst offender, with everyone scrapping luxury sedans like they're marketing to children, but it's just incredibly frustrating sitting in these newer cars, knowing that I'm literally popping painkillers because some wimp is afraid to get old. My first car was a 1990 Chrysler New Yorker with velour seats. Not hard leather, velour. Because they cared about making a car that was comfortable. Now, if you make a car that's even remotely comfortable, the kids come out to whine that it's not their kind of car and it's a "grandpa car." They're like these people who complain about movies like the new Little Mermaid. They're such narcissists that they think everything has to be made for them. If everything isn't their way, they pout. I wouldn't even be complaining if there was even one car that fit my specs, but there isn't. Even Mercedes and BMW are trying to appeal to rich kids.

@@SantanKGhey1234 1. I beg to differ, look at Motorweeks own video on the 1991 Regal. 8.6 seconds. So there goes your "faster with anything with a N/A 3800." And the 91 regal is a series 1 so around 170hp and 210 lb-ft. Hauling around a 3325 lb luxury car around... Not bad especially in 91. 2. With one person in this car the 3 cylinder may be totally adequate, fill it up with people or luggage or whatever. I bet this 3 cylinder will start to struggle carrying some weight around. 3. It's not only speed and power. But also reliability, one of the best engines ever built and way more reliable and easier to work on than alot of the newer engines coming out of GM.

Lease it don't buy it! GM can barely build a basic car and make it reliable so why would you ever want one as complicated is this? A tiny 1.2 or even 1.3 liter engine Hestia stress pretty hard and I can promise you not for very long. The resale value on these reflect that. These will soon be all over the buy here pay here will finance anyone type car lots

Was given a 19 Encore loaner. No longer a fan of Buick. Not because of this, but because of my old 07 LaCrosse with the rack and pinion problem. This was simply underpowered, nothing about it stood out, too much plastic and waaaaaaaay too small, unless you are a LP..

Why won't you give a negative review? These are perfectly sized for my needs. The back seating is nice. But this is a dangerously slow vehicle. The thrumming 1.2 must be kept floored, and the belt-drive CVT cannot last. It's like GM self-sabotaged on purpose. The 1.3 with AWD to get a decent transmission is still slow and UNBELIEVABLY expensive! It's a total piece of sh!t, a joke compared to Honda, and you gave it a good review. Why won't you give an honest review on a bad car?
