Hi. I know I sound ungrateful in another comment, but I've watched in person in awe- truly incredible!! My gripe IS the media coverage: No respect for the bands nor each other. They try to make it about them in their banter. He has trouble talking and blows right over the woman's "Relatables." There appears to be no mic on the field for us to really listen to the bands, so when they say: "Let's listen," it's only a 1 second break in their incessant chattering. Sigh, lol... So- one year later- I wish you a Very Happy New Year ❣ May your reality surpass your dreams 💖🎉🎶🥂🙏🌹
@debt4717 Жыл бұрын
@@artistaloca4 I totally agree with you. It's hard to enjoy the parade when our ears are assaulted with constant, meaningless chatter. I can decide for myself which entries I like without their opinions being shoved in my face. They only let us listen to the bands for a few seconds because the music takes away from their rolling, nonstop rhetoric. Somewhere on YT is a video of Macy's parade this year with NO hosting. Just camera work. It was like a breath of fresh air, and the number of 'likes' and 'views' seem to agree. I don't remember who posted it, but it was great.

the best Rose Parade in the history of the parade - all 131 in number - it was truly all about US - the USA and the entire world around US - all of the bands that came to our country to share their talents with US - I can tell you because I've seen many of the parades in my lifetime, oh yes have - the float entries were out of this world indescribably gorgeous and the great deal of work went into their presentation - thank you everyone that presented this parade on the first day of 2020.

Rewatching this in 2021 is a little bittersweet, but it's a reminder to never take anything for granted. So sad I didn't get to help decorate floats this year! It's so much work, it kills your hands and arms, and I'll never be able to erase the insanely sweet/lemongrass-y smell of onion seeds from my memory, but it's such an amazing experience and a beautiful event to be a part of. It's so amazing to watch the hours work of hundreds of vollunteers turn into something so incredibly beautiful. Wishing all of you a better year, and a reminder to have hope and remember how amazing life was and will be soon.

Well, it is the main celebration of the New Year (along with that madhouse in Times Square which is not very relaxing :) Although the calendar is a human construct, we do assign some emotional significance to a new year. It is like a rebirth each year. That is one reason I think the theme this year is particularly good.

I loved it too but what is all this "HOPE" stuff about? I had to stop and think what this means. It's a leftist (California, Hollywood) ideological construct. The assumption that you are oppressed and downtrodden somehow. And a narrative that says you should be giving more of your money away to "people that deserve it better than you", in other words keep paying high taxes and should be actually paying more. If you really care about something, want it done then "DO" don't "HOPE". It's like if I told me boss after he asks me "Are you going to get this done?", and I respond "I hope I will!". I wonder how long I would keep my job. Yea I suppose California really needs a lot of "Hope" because the radical left keeps killing the state with a bunch of awkward, not thought out, BS actually oppressive laws, and the highest taxes in the nation. Lets not make more "Hope" but get of these idiots for people that "Can", actual "Doers". When your government is telling you "Hope", you better say "I gave at the office", no thanks I'll keep my money (that I actually worked for myself).

SO much better than the network broadcasts, which have become more about promoting the other shows on the network than about the parade. Here, you actually get to hear bands perform, see the floats, and still get the interesting facts about each (and few promotions for things outside the parade). Hope you guys do simulcast broadcasts like this every year!
@vjhreeves5 жыл бұрын
The networks even selectively censored the only Christian float in the whole parade. Lutheran Hour Ministries has appeared in the parade for 69 years. This year their float "Anchored in Jesus" was skipped in the tv coverage. Only Hallmark channel showed it. I flipped between channels and saw it for myself.

@@ddebenedictis That might make sense for international broadcasts to Muslim countries, but not to domestic broadcasts. I was particularly glad to see the band from West Harrison in Mississippi. I live in Mississippi and have followed the development of that band program. It's hard to believe that school was opened only 10 years ago. The Japan Green Band is a composite of individuals, which means that they are, at least in terms of the dance routines, limited to what the average band can do. I preferred it when they had the actual high school bands which trained together all year. On the plus side, unmentioned, the one legged flautist from the Kyoto Tachibana HS Band in 2018 is back with the Green Band (She graduated from Tachibana in 2018) Five and a half miles takes it out of most people. Tea Talks with Susan and Faith Mathis YES! I was honestly blown away by that. These days, our local channel more or less shows tons commercials with “parade highlights” in between. It’s been years for me since a parade was THIS enjoyable to watch. I certainly don’t mind the occasional interruption, and I get that ads help support air time, but it’s just gotten way out of balance in recent years. Seeing the parade in full like this reminded me of how it felt to watch it on tv as a kid. My whole family was so excited. I’ll definitely be checking back with this channel next year.

glad KTLA had this coverage, I turned on the tv on ABC Newschannel 9 , 2 mins after WI was on. I forgot the parade was on today, I turned it on at 1158am, expecting to see the noon news!
