I just realized something: these small Pick-ups like the Santa Cruz and the Maverick could very well come to Europe too. They're just as large and capable as Europeans need a truck to be when they don't want a straight up BOF Pick-up truck. They're smaller than the small Pick-up trucks we have here in Europe (the Toyota Hilux, the Isuzu D-Max, the Nissan Navara and the Ford Ranger, all of which are about 5.3m or 208.67in. in length) and they are more versatile than the cars on which they're based (the Tucson and the Escape/Kuga, that is - mind you, the Tucson and the Kuga come to Europe too) in the sense that the cargo room is larger and it can accept larger cargo or it can accept more forms of cargo! They're brilliant! Please Hyundai and Ford, bring these cars in Europe, they're the perfect inbetweeners to normal cars, crossovers and BOF Pick-ups!

Squished Honda (Hyundai) still is. I was in the market for a car recently and test drove one after seeing/hearing so many people say they are good. They are not, unless you are comparing against Corolla's, Civics, Sentras etc....You get on the highway and as soon as you go over 65mph they feel really unstable, a little crosswind and you really feel it on the steering wheel and need to compensate. I think they've caught up with the low end of other car brands. Their Genesis brand on the other hand is legitimately nice, not as nice as the cars (Merc S class and the like) many people including Doug compare them to. But I just don’t think it’ll be a success considering unlike in other international markets, there isn’t as much of a need for small, subcompact trucks here with our roads being larger and wider, and was as Americans more often tow and haul larger-capacity loads with our trucks.

I think the top end should have a sticker price about $30K. If they had given it a 4 foot wide bed, and made the bed extend into the cabin with rear seats folded down, it would sell massively more.

Like a 2011 and older ford ranger. This isn't a pickup. It's an SUV with a shopping cart for a bed.

Maybe the bumper steps are for people who aren't "6-3, 6-4." Is anyone else tired of "Easter eggs"? Someone comes out with a feature, and it is cool. Someone copies it quickly, and it is still interesting. This instance feels like your 70 year-old mom/grandma saying, "I know, right?"
@AHungryHunky3 жыл бұрын
"Easter eggs" actually have a purpose, by stamping parts with logos or hidden designs one can tell at a glance if the part is oem or a non-oem replacement. For example if I got a cheaper, non-oem, replacement for my windshield on my Jeep people would know because the little jeep in the corner is gone.

This is perfect for the bumpy on/off-roads in the Philippines, where you sometimes need to transport an additional 5 people in the truck bed, or have to go pickup a broken down scooter somewhere.

@@jrkin The bed space is horrible though. You could barely get a decent amount of mulch or soil in it. Garden tools may not even fit without sticking out. Might as well get an Outback or Ridgeline or Maverick for the extra space alone. My biggest gripe.

I would buy one if I had the money. I'm single, live in city and work an office job, and currently drive a Civic. But I need to transport stuff once in a while, that doesn't fit into the Civic, and I wish I had some kind of small truck but without the whole truck thing. Kind of modern iteration of the El Camino.
@afcgeo8823 жыл бұрын
Right… what you need is a small CUV that drives like a car, but has space to fit all the shit once in a while. Like a CRV or something.

Honestly if your space needs are like less than 1x per month, I think it makes sense to rent a U-Haul truck. You don't want all the accumulated maintainance/cost of a larger vehicle if you can avoid

I will be buying one when it comes out, currently own a Kona, but have been craving a vehicle with more capability without having to enter a true truck market. So I am definitely part of the target market, This thing is made for those in their mid-20s to mid-30s that live in the city but like outdoor activities.

Hyundai makes great daily drivers, but they have no halo cars. They really need a couple of unique and interesting models that stand out. Even Kia does this with the Stinger and the Soul. The Ioniq is just a cheaper and better looking alternative to a Prius.
