I have a 2022 90. I love it and have put 6,000+ miles on it so far. It works well on and off road. It is very very comfortable and very nice for long trips. No issues. Having taken delivery of a P400 engined 90, I must say that I’d struggle to fault the car even with the compromised cargo space. I don’t regularly need to take passengers and the 90 handles better and certainly looks a whole lot cooler than the 110. I traded a 2019 RR Sports SVR with the 575 brake engine but the 395 brake P400 is just as interesting and suits the 90. I’ve also had full size RR’s and my wife has had Evoque’s for years and we have never had any reliability issues with any of the Land Rover models. Having had actual extensive experience of the widely mentioned “reliability issues” I have seen no signs of them at all.

I LOVE the Defender 90 but I'd be afraid to own anything from Land Rover at all unless it was a lease, and Land Rovers typically have pretty terrible resale value although old Defenders are an exception so that may stay true with these. They'll never do it, but LR should come out with a "Street" or "Lite" (or some other trendy sounding name) sub-brand where all that off-road hardware is replaced with a coil spring and a shock absorber only. Much of the reason LRs/RRs in the US become maintenance nightmares in a few years is massively expensive off-road hardware is never used at all. The engines and (ZF) transmissions are virtually never the problem (look at Hyundai with millions of burned up/recalled engines over the past five years----never happens with a JLR product). The problem is the air springs, valves, articulation joints, the electronic control modules and cameras, etc. all that stuff underneath every LR/RR sits there unused for years in the United States. Like any mechanical system, much of it is self-lubricating and if never used, parts get brittle, or seize, or otherwise decay far sooner than they would if they were used regularly. In America, people buy LR/RR because they look great, perform great, and are very luxurious; LR/RR throws in the off-road hardware for no benefit here as no one uses it. Just take it out. Make an LR-America sub-brand or something where the vehicle is purely the luxurious Mall-crawler it is used as here and much of their reliability problems would go away. I'd love to buy one of these, but I never go off-road so what is the point?
@michaelopere54242 жыл бұрын

I guess Land Rover don't want to sell vehicles. Their customer focus is so narrow it's not even funny. First, you are targeting people who would trust in their reliability. Second, among those people, people who would buy a 2 door SUV for some stupid reason. Third, among those people that is okay with above two, they would need to want to pay $66K+ for it Fourth, among those people that is okay with above three, they would need to want to off-road Fifth, among those people that is okay with above four conditions, they would need to also forego all the other better options out there (too many to count) and decide to buy this instead.
@ruddthreetrees11042 жыл бұрын
You’re wrong imo. It’s why lr garages are often next to Porsche ferarri etc. they aren’t targeting people who want reliability or care about the price or even off road. It’s a luxury brand now not the lr of yesteryear. This will be bought and owned by someone well off who won’t own it more than 3 years so won’t have to worry about reliability , will never go off road and doesn’t care about price . And as for better options , if you understand the brand and who they are targeting there isn’t much really. Audi or bmw? They are just as unreliable and don’t have the brand image . Trust me no one that is buying or wanting this car is thinking about any of your points really. You’re describing someone who buys a rav or something .
@dtsect2 жыл бұрын
@@ruddthreetrees1104 So you pretty much described LR's target customer base as people who have $ and don't give a f about reliability and will only drive it to go to whole foods and back. And at the same time, okay with people looking at your car and judging you as the dumbass who would spend any $ to look "cool" in their own means. Got it. LR ranks dead last most of the time any year, while BMW is usually middle of the pack along with Mercedes followed by Audi. And Porsche is another option people can go with and it ranks top 5 among "Luxury" brands. If someone would want to drive a pricey/luxury car, they can at least go with Mercedes or Porsche, not a LR.
