I’m glad Audi hasn’t abandoned sedans. They did a great job on this one.

Audi is one of those brands where the lineup still looks fantastic without all the trim pieces being blacked out. I remember seeing my first RS6 without the shadow package and I think it looks absolutely gorgeous. Not to mention, the new RS6 and RS7 Performance models also look fantastic with the matte grey/titanium trim around the windows. I'm not saying that the black trim doesn't look good, I just so happen to really like the silver trim that's seen on Audi models as well. Although, I will admit that the A4 and S4 do look a little off with the silver trim in the front end.

I love the gray trim on the S4, also the chrome accents on the grill is gorgeous. The only blackout car I ever liked was the Buick Grand National.

@@jeffs6090 personally there is no problem with me to review a car and its design. I pretty like it with the first few videos. But the foundation of this channel is pretty much focused on redesigning specifically through photoshop. Currently, every video he uploads gets up to idk less than 10k or 5k while the good old redesigns are more than that. I know Bembli is absolutely enjoying what he is doing now. Like who doesn't want to drive different cars?? All that I'm saying is he should balance out the digital redesigns and the live reviews

In Europe we are lucky enough to get the s4 as a diesel and I love it. It has about the hp but 700nm of torque. Its the ultimate family cruiser, estate s4 diesel with all that diesel torque pulling your frineds and your staff towards your summer vacation in ultimate comfort.

Maybe I’m living in the past but I am not a fan of the blackout package. Those chrome side view mirrors were always a nice touch for the S4 especially on the old school B5.

Thank you for all of this great content you’ve been putting out… You totally get it as well: The S models hit the sweet spot ❤️ I love that Audi makes designs that age very well. My 2016 TTS, especially with its PPF and ceramic, looks new. The last time I refueled, a gentleman complemented my taste in cars. He said he thought it was a new car. The gauge cluster in my car is not much different from what’s in the 2023 model; further proof of good, clean design that ages gracefully. As far as this S4, I’m not a big fan of the screen, but it doesn’t bother me that much either. It reminds me of the flip out DVD player screen that I used to have in several of my cars back in the day (‘93 Altima and ‘95 Millenia, respectively). It would be so nice if they redesign that part so that the screen can disappear into the dash (like they’ve done before in the past). If you ever get your hands on a TT or TTS 😍, it would be so cool to see your take on it. I love my 2016 because it has a purer language than the latest one. The new one has some faux vents on the rear bumper and a little more exaggerated styling in the front. Like this S4, my TTS has those beautiful, sweeping indicators in the rear… and as a person that has always religiously used turn signals, I love anything that makes that action more distinctive… sending a clear message of awareness, safety, and style-consciousness 🙌 (I even had the mirrors on a car that I owned back in the day customized with exterior mirror indicators that really stood out… as it was mainly Mercedes-Benz sporting those. People were literally chatting me up at stoplights because it was not something seen on everyday cars at the time). Back to the TTS, the spoiler that comes up at 77 mph is sweet as well. I love to get out on the highway so that I can “activate/enhance the sendoff 😌” and give the car a slightly different vibe (especially in Sport mode in which the actual exhaust notes are throatier - adding a more visceral vibe to the driving experience). Although you can press the button and have the spoiler up anytime you want, I don’t use it… as it would feel poser’ish to me. It all goes back to that “if you know you know” vibe of the S models. I think you said something to the effect of ‘executive performance’ - and I like that. 😌 I just find it cool to see it gracefully activate and deactivate at a certain speed and deceleration point, respectively. My TTS has been super reliable and I think it’s just one of those hidden gems that many people forget about until they see it… which reminds me of my family and classmates 😬😄 - who will see me rollin’ in it in South Carolina soon (nice freestyle/remix by the way, haha ☺️). Keep up the great work and I hope you’re doing well offline too 🙏 Much love and respect from a USMC vet and car enthusiast in the coastal area of North Carolina 🙌❤️

I have a 2018 B9 S4, which is pretty much identical to the refreshed version. My older one has a great instrument display option with a round digital having speed and gear in the center. To me, that’s ideal. Don’t know why they dropped it. My S4 also has eight physical audio preset buttons that I use constantly. Another victim of the re-design.

I love Audi designs, but the one issue I have is the sedans (A4, 6, 8) being virtually indistinguishable from a distance whether from the front or the rear. I see an A6, but as it gets closer is actually an A4 or vice versa. Same thing with the A6 vs A8. And the vast expanse of screens in their interior is a turn off for me because of the way they attract dust and fingerprints.

The S5 Sportback is less rigid than the S4. If you want cooler looks, opt for the S5 Sportback. If you want a slightly faster car on a racetrack that is a few thousand dollars cheaper, go for the S4.

Drove a new s4 and s5 sport back. The connection between the pedal and the engine/transmission is very detached. Not at BMWlevel.

Dynamic/Sport will solve much of it, a TCU tune or using the paddles solves all of it, it's the same ZF8 transmission as in a BMW, just the factory tune is not as aggressive out of the box.

@@davethedogdude So is a tune going to fix the fact that this isn't an inline 6 engine, a proper RWD bias, and lacks the same suspension tuning as BMW?
@davethedogdude
@davethedogdude Жыл бұрын
If you want the suspension tuning of a track level BMW then by all means get a BMW. All an M level suspension will do to me where I live is make me sad every time I drive, I do not daily my car on a track, I daily my car on shitty roads. I directly compared to and test drove 440i/m440i and RS5s. I personally found the S with S-Sport pkg adaptive suspension (vs. RS let alone an M) to be the best balance for my use - in comfort mode it is legit comfortable, and I can still button it down nicely enough when I want to. The inline 6 is nice for sure, but the 3.0T and 2.9T engines are also nice. An inline 5 cyl. would excite me more. Because those sound amazing. As far as "proper RWD Bias", the 4/5s with S-Sport can send 85% of the power to the rear, and all of it to a single rear wheel, so when you learn to use the throttle properly it handles very much like a RWD car when you want it to do so. The idea that these are FWD biased cars that will fight against you is completely bogus shit that people can't seem to let go of it is not the case at all if a person bothers to learn how to drive it. Now an S3 level Audi (those max at 50/50 split and default to front), or one of the newer "quattro ultra" ones like an A4/A5 are by default more FWD biased. But even the "quattro ultra" cars can still send most of the power to the rear when needed. If you get in an A4/A5 with the ultra and you launch it, it will squat like a RWD car.

How reliable are these cars though? always worried about that with the German cars
@davethedogdude
@davethedogdude Жыл бұрын
The current Gen 3/4 E888s (4 cyl. Audis and VWs and Porsche Macans) and 6 cyl. EA839 engines like in the S4/S5 are generally very reliable *if you do all of the maintenance when you are supposed to do it*. I would avoid high mileage turbocharged EA839s before MY2019 due to a potential rocker arm bearing issue (Audi/Porsche, and more affected). If it was manufactured post 2018 it's probably safe though. The super charged ones before that are some of the most reliable engines Audi/Porsche has ever made with minor mitigations. If you don't do the maintenance, get your oil changes at Lube Stop or some other shitty place where they will use the wrong oil, and/or in any other way treat any German car like a Toyota than they will die a horrible death. But as long as you go to a reputable Euro/German shop for maintenance work, and follow the schedule, they will last a long time.

These look really nice from the inside, maybe even a tilt better than the G20 3 series pre facelift model but still there is that one thing which annoys me alot: either you go quattro or FWD. I want RWD though. No matter what I do every front heavy FWD car felt very uncomfortable and incompetent to me whilst driving, compared to some BMW 3 series or C-Class.
@davethedogdude
@davethedogdude Жыл бұрын
I don't know if you have ever driven an S4/S5 with the optional S-Sport diff, but they do not feel or drive like a FWD car at all. My S5 compared to my older A5 with "haldex" quattro is a very different animal when turning and putting down some power. It can put 85% of the power to the rear wheels, and all of that power to a single wheel to really push the back end out. Does it best when giving it some beans. The only difference I feel between it and a fully RWD car is a sense of more control on anything sketchy.

@@betterbeavailable I think for the money, an IS 500 is the actual competitor to the S4. The S4 in this video was $68,000. I got my IS 500 for $66,000 (which was, in fact, the MSRP... no markup), and it is fully-equipped. The S4 is nice. I like the design of the outside and inside, but personally I went with the IS 500 because I like the exterior styling and the engine more on the Lexus - plus, with the V-8, it feels like a car that is quickly going extinct.
