I've had a storm chaser for the last 4 seasons. I only bring it out on days that are minimum 8" because it's really a one-trick pony, but it absolutely CRUSHES pow. Effortless float, your back leg will thank you. Super nimble in the trees too. Definitely not the most versatile pow board, but it's really good at what it's designed to do.

Yep, same views on this board, super fun in 1+ foot of powder, but the lack of a proper tail makes it less fun if it isnt deep. The mind expander is much more versatile imho and has like 90% of the performance in pow.

Hey Avron! I bought the Ride Shadowban based solely off of your review and absolutely love it! Looking for a powder board now with a surfy feel. I was thinking of the Burton Family Forager but it looks like you don't review Burton boards. Have you ridden it? Any thoughts? I am also digging the Nidecker Beta Apx but having a tough time finding one. Thanks! Love your reviews and tell all my buddies to watch them before buying a board.

Good day! I bought "storm chaser" in size 152, my weight is 185 lbs, boots 11.5, I haven't ridden it yet, waiting for the winter. If you use the size grid on the official website, I should have taken size 157 to fit in the middle weght. My question is, will I not sink in powder with size 152? Thanks in advance!

Had a storm chaser for a while, it's a one trick pony that is only good in real deep stuff, sold it, not much performance increase from a classic hovercraft...which works in all kind of powder not just in the best conditions..and even beyond.. I found the SC to be a bit bucky when you find firmer snow

I'm lookin for a board like this with the swallow tail for a Japow trip.... For deep pow where would you rank this vs the K2 special effects, vs the bataleon surfer? I know the special effects is more of a price point. Are there any other boards that i'm missing? 5'10" 230 lbs. Thank you

Super torn on adding a powder specific board to my quiver. Have an old Mercury for early season / no new snow days, jones stratos for daily driver, solution split for backcountry. Thinking of storm chaser, forma, japow, dart, and surfer. Live in the Oregon where hood and bachelor get heavy wet snow, and powder only lasts half a day. Should I even get a pow specific board? Would be easier to justify if I had easy access to dry powder or heli/cat boarding. Open to suggestions. Park days are behind me.

Kind of your call, but when I lived in WA I had a dedicated powder board that was just bigger and stiffer for that heavier snow.

Get a dart, it’s a great board for pow and groomers.

Decided to give the Season Forma a shot. Should be good in resort powder, but also a carver…no doubt I’d want the storm chaser if I had easy access to cat boarding or untouched lines.

Darts stiffer from the mid back through the tail. Storm Chaser floats better and is easier to ride in trees.

@@AngrySnowboarder ah, I thought this years model was redesigned or something. The way it sounded in their promo video gave me thoughts it would be similar, the white minimal graphics also threw out the dart vibe
