+20 years ago, I KNEW rugby world champions England were going to get smashed by an unfancied Wales before the game started. There was electricity when the Welsh sang their anthem, a touch of venom too, they were up for it! Had the same feeling at the opening ceremony of the RC this year. Johnson spoke beautifully, an emotional day for a man reaching the pinnacle of his career. Donald was suave, relaxed and enjoyed himself up there. Excellent Italian to get the crowd going, the "no problem" aura was visible. Now remember the mantra: "You don't play golf to relax, you relax to play golf." 😉 Speaking of visible auras, the Vatican should canonize Saint Donald of Hemel Hempstead. That 1st day WAS a miracle witnessed by many!

Spectacular tournament and Rome did a fantastic job hosting it. Great team sport. Would be great to see this expand into other continents where there is more golf talent. Asia Pacific, Africa, Middle East, Latam ... Team golf is exciting.

They didn't want LIV players, which is why the captaincy was taken from Stenson and given to Donald. However Koepka was selected so leaving out the other LIV players made no sense.

​​​@@columkennKoepka was a Major winner that year and the 7th in the Ryder Cup ranking, so assuming that because he wasn't playing in RC points events besides Majors he could've been in the automatic qualified, not sure about the others who joined LIV. The only inexplicable decision was Rickie Fowler, he had a loosing record and wasn't doing great at those times.
