So wonderful to see this ancient tradition thrive in the modern days. Santa Fe and Taos have been centers for trade and exchange between people for centuries before Europeans arrived. There are many reports of how peoples from the plains would come to Taos to trade with people from the SW and beyond. Even warrior groups like the Navajo (!) and Comanche would come to New Mexico and trade peacefully.
